Yes. If by "backlight" you mean light directed at the background. Not light from the back directed towards the camera.![]()
I would light with these blue lights, of course, but I would also desaturate in post a bit. All channels except the blue one. So it would look more "at night" than with saturated skin tones and blue light. It's me.
Here's a quick comparison I did:
I think it would make it more believable. What do you think?
lol I need a bigger image! my eyes suck!
@Krute more me messing up my words.. yeah I meant a light lighting up the background.

Thanks bro...3 minutes of work!
After effects Curves adjust - bump up RBG..bump up the blue channel. Hue/Saturation- reduced saturation like -30. Colorista 2 - pulled the midtones and shadows into blue a bit and finally did a secondary mask saturation reduction. Apply Neat vid...
I am going to try to post the pictures like you did....let me see if this works.

Lol! Just realized that I'm using my picasa image, so I use the URL tab when I do such. It's free...you could try!?
Otherwise, you're still stuck with the thumbnail thing...but it's on the hv20 server though, not external.
Ahhhh! Better! I'm happy now!
Shaun, that looks amazing

Didn't do much different except that I tried to use "colorama" to save the facial highlights while crushing the blacks on the right of the image.

I think my first attempt looked better....maybe i shouldn't have used colorama.

It's easier to duplicate the layer and set the top one to "soft light" then use the brush to "wipe" out the part you want to be brighter. Simpler too, with stills...on video it would be too long. But it all comes to lighting skills: try to separate the talent from the background to create the look you're after!
