    Default Game #399 (v2)

    Game version 2
    5 somewhat easy recognizable pictures:

    Guidelines:
The movie[s] may or may not have been part of a previous game. The images are a little easier and more revealing, but you need to get all 5 right to win. The first person to get ALL 5 right, wins. The basic rule of this version is to select images that are unique to the film you're presenting. We shouldn't post shots of something that could have come from hundreds of other films. The trick in this game is to pick a shot that is very unlikely to appear in any other film, while at the same time is not a dead giveaway, (like eg, the Red Sea parting!) (© Krute/MAL)

    Rule A:
NO IMAGE HOSTING ON EXTERNAL SERVERS. Images for the games need to be ATTACHED to the post, and thus uploaded to our server.

    Rule B:
ONLY ONE GUESS OF ALL 5 MOVIES PER PERSON PER PICTURE SET!!! There will be an initial set of 5 images, and your guess has to INCLUDE ALL FIVE movies. Simply guessing or answering one, two, three or four of them will disqualify you from that particular game, and the post will be removed. If no one can answer all 5 movies correctly within a reasonable time, a new set of 5 NEW pictures will be posted. Clues may or may not include which, if any, of the movies have been correctly guessed, at the discretion of the person starting the game. Only persons who have already posted their answer can participate in discussing the correctness of any or all of the previous guesses.

    Rule C:
The WINNER of the game can start a new game IN A NEW THREAD.
NO ONE ELSE (unless yielded so by the winner). Game type one, two or three can be started.

    Rule D:
Once there's a winner, PLEASE post the correct name of all movies into the thread (spelled correctly, and capitalized correctly, and not in italics or bold face.)

    Rule E:
    The correct title format is: "Game" / space / "#" / number / "(v2)"
Example: " Game #212 (v2)" (without the ") (no space between the # sign and the number!) "v2" denotes version two, for version one, there needs to be no version number.

    Rule F:
The film selected should be one that has had an international, theatrical release.
I.e. a made-for-TV movie only shown in the USA would hardly be a fair entry, as
    we have international players also.

    Rule G:
These complete rules (A to G and Guidelines), or 1 to 7 if game type 1 is played, have to be copy & pasted into each new game's first post.

OK, here we go - a little "animation education"...

    Clues will follow later.

Bedtime here, soon, so a clue to tide you over: These movies were all made within a decade and a half, and not all are shorts...

    New screenshots tomorrow, EU time.

OK, those first grabs may have been a bit too hard, so here's a new set.

Note that all films are all well-known classics. (At least IMDB and Wikipedia know about them... )

Clue: The films come from three different studios: Disney, Fleischer and Warner Bros.

Next set below, gotta be careful, now - I haven't been able to check these images, since TinEye has not been accessible from here for the past week.

(I get a "Sorry! TinEye is down for maintenance." message - can any of you access it?)

Could you please check out TinEye? It doesn't work for me, so I can't check the images I post - not that you would stoop to such low methods...

New set of grabs (last for today, back in the EU morning), and a clue: None of the films were made after 1950.

Aah, yes. #4 is when he's in court for causing mayhem etc, .....

I googled Tin Eye and it's working.

Seriously, I'm not being a high-minded goody-two-shoes, but I don't see the point in using Tin Eye. It makes the games just a test of who's the quickest to find a matching image on the Net.

I enjoy the game more, when I find a matching image in my brain.

Yes, the classic alpine courtroom scene.

Seems like the odds of finding one of these images on the net using tineye would be pretty small anyway. I've been checking my screen grabs before posting, and I've found only one of them using tineye -- and it was an iconic, giveaway shot.

Of course, that doesn't stop people (usually Janke or Krute) from solving my games within a shot or two anyway. They're a bunch of human tineyes out there!

It helps to go back and read the clues again.

Lol! That's Janke's diabolical choice of frames! And no, that's not a hint.

Yeah, probably. Although, I have to admit that I did find the name of #4 by using Tin Eye. Well, Mister J insisted that I check if the site was up here, and I thought, well, as long as I'm here....

I had an idea I knew it from the frame in Post #8, but I decided to go back and use the frame in Post #5 to apply Tin Eye to. And, sure enough...

But, to be consistent, I'm not going to post the guess. I know, aren't I just a saint?!! But I do love it when I recognise a frame from memory!

It's true that Janke solves your games with seeming ease, but I sure don't. I'd have to check, but I don't think my record with your games is too hot.

Rule B? Not up to me, of course, but I'd say you merely made a joke reference to a comment that I had previously made... I'd say don't bow out until you get a ruling.

No, I meant that I would have made a better guess to begin with if I had read the clues more carefully.

(And I hope that none of this is violating rule B, but I don't think it is.)

    Ugarte 4/5.

Nobody is breaking rules, here, friendly banter is always fun.

True for us all, I'd say - but sometimes, it's soooooo frustrating that you are really tempted... (by "you" I mean "I" - and, guilty as charged...)

Same here - I now know why TinEye doesn't work for me! Last week, I loaded a new version of Firefox, that somehow messes up TinEye. It still works in Safari.

And, Krute is right, in all respects... Sooo - this means that this game is solvable without further screenshots!

Shall we let someone else try to get the 5/5 ? Ugarte can't make a new guess yet (sorry ), and Krute's impeccable moral standards prevents him (sorry ) ...

    Anyone else ?

If not, a new set of screenshots is coming up in about 12 hours from now.

That site can only check if the TinEye site is up, not if it works, or is incompatible with your particular browser...

Just call me Saint Krute... Bless you, my son.

On reflection, it's probably pointless for me not to post the last film. The last set of shots has been there for a fair while now, and I think if anyone else did have an idea, they almost certainly would have had a shot at it by now.

Seems a waste of time to wait another 12 hours on the chance that somebody else is playing, when I could finish the game now and we could move on to another game.

Tell you what, if nobody posts a guess in the next 30 minutes, I'll post the last film and throw the next game open.

    Agreed?

    TinEye works again.

The new version of Firefox had add-ons disabled by default (Doh! for not realizing that ), and TinEye needs one. It is now enabled.

So, now I can again check that any images I post can't be found via TinEye - and, in fact, I suggest every game poster checks his images before posting, just to level the field, so to speak...
