Default Game #398 - The Thin Red Line (1998)

    Game version 1
    One picture from one movie:

    Rule 1:
NO IMAGE HOSTING ON EXTERNAL SERVERS.
Images for the games need to be ATTACHED to the post, and thus uploaded to our server.

    Rule 2:
TWO GUESSES PER PERSON PER POSTED PICTURE!!! Those two guesses are not allowed to be in the same post, NOR in a consecutive post. I.e. you can post one guess, then have to wait for someone else to guess: your second guess is not allowed to be immediately following your first guess.

    Rule 3:
The WINNER of the game can start a new game IN A NEW THREAD.
NO ONE ELSE (unless yielded so by the winner).

    Rule 4:
Once there's a winner, PLEASE post the correct name into the thread (spelled correctly, and capitalized correctly, and not in italics or bold face.)

    Rule 5:
The correct title format is: "Game" / space / "#" / number.
    Example: " Game #12" (without the ")
(no space between the # sign and the number!)

    Rule 6:
The film selected should be one that has had an international, theatrical release.
I.e. a made-for-TV movie only shown in the USA would hardly be a fair entry, as
    we have international players also.

    Rule 7:
These complete rules (1 to 7) have to be copy & pasted into each new game's first post.

Although I haven't watched them in years, it is Oscar weekend so I thought I'd pick a film that at least as some connection with the Academy Awards.

Pics are a tad small, Ugarte. Can you enlarge them, maybe?

Believe it or not, Al, I never use Tin Eye. Didn't even know it existed until a few? months ago. Didn't even know there was such a thing as reverse image searching, until I happened to read a post in some Net forum, (I forget which one) where some guy suggested Google Image search to some other guy who was asking about the name of a picture he had. Sheer chance and luck, is all. Then Janke mentioned Tin Eye at some point in a Game, and I checked that out, too.

Actually, no, I did use it once or twice after I found out about it. The one time it actually worked for me was in one of Janke's games, (before he started getting cagey.) Now, I never use it. If it works, it takes all the fun out of the game.

I was just joking anyways, I always mention TinEye to you cause of that one time. On to the game... I have no clue what this is.

Yeah, it's cool, Al. I'm glad you said that, in it. Since I found out about reverse images searches I've wanted to find some way to let people know that I didn't even know about it until very recently. An ego thing, I guess.

    Onward!

EDIT: That was supposed to be, "I'm glad you said it, in fact." (oh dear, the neurons!)

Argggh, Janke. How do you get these so fast?!? I thought my first few screen grabs would be pretty much unguessable. Do you have spyware installed on my computer?

It is, of course The Thin Red Line. Nominated for 7 Academy Awards -- and won none of them. Let's see if Terrence Malick can do a little better this year.

Here are some of the shots I thought would give it away:

Well done, Janke. And over to you...

    LOL! That would be something...

Next game up later toady - I'll have to see what I have on my DVD shelves; most of my recordings over the years - starting in the early 1980s - are Betamax or VHS, the VHS heap below is on the way to the dump (besides, it would be too much of a hassle to capture from them...)

Goodness me! That was... well, I'm speechless.

How in the..?! It was just two nondescript frames.

    Amazing, Mister J.
