Default The next 5d on the way Feb 28 2012?

    Canon rumors:

It's not going to be in my budget. Brand new cameras will always start out a big high, but I am curious to see if this is true, and the specs. It is about time, the 5d is starting to show it's age.

Yes. People are getting very jittery on the Internet so it may not be far away.

It'll be interesting to see what its like.

I am saving for one - at this point I'm skipping the MKII.

It'll be a great camera if it simply goes way beyond the 7D in terms of specs, and if they have eliminated moiré.

It seems like it. I'm on the edge of my seat hoping it will allow for RAW video, doubtful, but I'm hopeful all the same. I've been working with RED the past couple of weeks and have gotten used to the fantastic advantages

I don't see how that's possible. RAW video for 3,500 with the low light capabilities of the 5d would be a game changer for sure.

Well, we know it's not going to happen realistically, but it would be nice if they had found a way :P 2K would also be nice! My real expectation and hope is 1080 at 60 or 120 fps

I'm STILL on my HV20 and HV30 (last purchase was a goprohd2), been eying the Nikon D800 (need a good stills cam as well)...for me clean hdmi out (or lack of it) as well as headphone and mic in/out will be the dealbreakers. Hoping magic lantern hack will progress to clean hdmi out, but pessimistic. Cons for me on the d800 would be the low light/ISO issue. Missing my mamiya 645 super, but will never go back to film...

Imagine Canon won't offer clean hdmi due to video division...if so it's d800 for me (D4 and 1DX too expensive)...with a ninja...

Actually the hv.xx series have? 4:4:4 out if I'm not mistaken, but tiny sensor and hopeless for manual focus (less giant rig)...was a great camera in its day, but man I'm over HDV compression...not to mention 1440x1080...my gopro looks sharper...

I would have thought JPEG would have been listed there if it were talking about photos. Generally looking like a really good camera - and the pics of it look good. The back image isn't loading on my computer which is a shame as i'm dying to see if it has the flip out screen of my 60D, as that would make on location shooting so much easier and I wouldn't need to use an external monitor.

Just got home and checked the back picture, upset to not see the flip out screen... but it's not the end of the world I suppose.

I can only imagine how upset people will be that it doesn't have a flip out screen. That alone is an outright insult, since so many people are using the mk ii for film these days. Hell.... ACT OF VALOR was shot solely on 5D's!

Too right, similar mistake to the XL-H1 and the XL line in general with a lack of flip out screens. And the C300 doesn't have a built in screen does it? Canon must have something against people seeing what they're shooting

The XL series didn't need a flip out screen, since the veiwfinder was 2.4 inches, and the eyepiece was removable, it already was a flip out screen in its own right.

I see your point, but the fact it couldn't flip around made many people (myself excluded) not buy the camera. I remember talking to a professional cinematographer who had considered it for a big project but that was the one lacking feature that made him go for something else.

Something else I'd love to see is a native 2.33:1 or 2:1 shooting mode, or something close.

Probably has something to do with the fact that this is a pro-DSLR in the first place. I think they weighed the pro's and cons of a flip out screen vs full weather tight body. The latter won...

Not entirely true, 25% of it was 35mm, shot on ARRI 235 and 435, as well as F950 CineAltas. Still, an impressive feat.

I didn't think of that as a reasoning actually, good point
