I've been shooting with a DSLR. PHOTOGRAPHY ONLY. For educational purposes.
...Once again, you begin your voyage to the "dark side".
Actually you'll enjoy using it (for whatever). Which make and model are you using?
I've spent most of my life behind the viewfinder of one kind of SLR or another and pretty much enjoyed working with each one of them. At my last job I was in on the changeover from conventional film based photography to all digital and with cameras that were nowhere near as good as what we have now.
But bit by bit they (management levels, it was an air force lab) took film and film processing away from us. I ran the official studio and we did official portraits mostly in B&W on 4x5 sheet film. The day the lab chief walked in on me and told me to process NO MORE B&W he expected an argument.
I said, "OK" and when he walked out I literally did cartwheels! The processing wasn't hard at all, but the periodic "dump chemistry" and scrub the tanks was a PITA.
When they "took away" the color slide processor I stepped outside and whooped for joy. The shutdown and cleanup on that machine took me 2 days (it was a HUGE processor) each time.
DSLR's are a joy to work with, these days. I wouldn't want to go back to "wet process" photography for anything. Oh it was fun and I had a lot of good experiences with it, but DSLR's are just great to "get the job done" with.
Good luck and have fun.
I am a reforming videomaking addict
Bif, you see that's what you had assistants or interns for....
"It is dark the other side. Very dark!" - "Oh, shut up and eat your toast!"
I'm taking a photography course with dslr, 35mm slr black and white w/ darkroom. We're using Canon Rebel XT's (I think that's the model) and/ or T3's. I currently have checked out a T3. It's nice shooting with it and I'm learning a lot, technical wise... How to use it. We have kit lenses though. Wish I could pick a longer lens but after 5 mins in my hand it already convinced me to get my own dslr for photography. I still don't see why one would use it for video. I can't see myself using it. Please, I don't want to get into that. Anyways, I took a few fun shots but will be spending more time with it over the weekend. Maybe I can share a few shots on here.
