    Default Combine 1920 x 1080 with 1440 x 1080?

    Vegas 7 Pro.

Asking advice on combining HV40 footage with rendered frames from Blender?
    Blender is out putting 1920 x 1080 and 1440 x 1080 is HV40.

I'm guessing to render the HV40 with Lagareth at 1920 x 1080 then bring it back into the Blender project?

    Any other thoughts?

    Thank you!

Mixing both doesn't change much: they will be both rendered in the same resolution. The only thing that's important is how the 1440 video (HDV) is interpreted at first (as anamorphic) so it looks like 16:9.

So then I guess it's best to start the project by telling Vegas to use the HV40 footage to determine the settings, then just add the 1920 x 1080.

You could, as I personally do, start your Vegas project by using 1920x1080, import both videos (1440 and 1920) and then just edit and render. Plain simple. As Charlie said, as long as the videos are interpreted correctly (1440 at 1:1.33 pixel aspect ratio), Vegas will export them properly in 1920x1080 (1:1 pixel aspect ratio).

I shoot 1920x1080 with my GH1 all the time, and mix in footage from my HV30's with it all the time.

Never noticed any difference in the footage except for colour (which is in camera problems, not editing).

I edit on a 1920x1080 timeline in Vegas Pro 11. Your biggest issue would be mixing framerates. I have done it, but I certainly wouldn't recommend it.

    1) I've done it too recently (for the wedding I've done) and it worked like a charm. Both camera were set to 30p.
    2) That's the main problem when using different cameras, even from the same brand...
    3) Mixing framerates (different ones) would lead to issues, but mixing computer CGI 23.976fps with AVCHD 23.976fps wouldn't be. And with the HV40 (which records directly at 23.976fps) it's not an issue at all. Be sure to export from Blender at 23.976fps and not 24.000fps otherwise it could be problematic, especially for sync.

When set to 24fps, I tried getting to 23.976 in Blender, using the "Frame per second base" adjustment,
but the result was scrappy looking frames.
It somehow messed up the image quality, but 24 out of Blender will be close enough.
It will run at 23.976 in Vegas and not be a problem since it doesn't really have to sync to anything.

Blender 2.6 has 23.98 as an option so if I get picky I'll just open it in the newer version and render at 23.98.
