Default Bach conversion Mp3 <-> PCM in OS X

I have a ton of MP3s which need to be worked on in STP and converted back to MP3 after I'm done.

I saved an Apple script to perform the tasks needed, but it chokes on the MP3s. So I need to convert the MP3s to PCM, run the script and batch convert them back again.

Does anyone know of such a tool? Please, pretty please.
The Korova milkbar sold milk-plus, milk plus vellocet or synthemesc or drencrom, which is what we were drinking. This would sharpen you up and make you ready for a bit of the old ultra-violence.
