Well, since I'm always interested in the special effects of a sci-fi movie, I must say that the exteriors of the domed city and the robot really looked laughable...
He recited a poem about it.... dang! Mephistocles? Some Greek name like that? No, that's from "Cats".
(I'm NOT going to goggle it!!!!!)
Ummmmm...........McLattery? something like that? Damn!!
He also recited a poem about cats having three names, but only the cat knows its third name.... bloody hell my memory is failing!!!!
Aah bugger it! I'll look it up.
I actually enjoyed Logan's Run, saw it many times. Yes, the "set" was an obvious miniature, and the film had all the flaws of 70s movies, but it still had something.
The part where they discover the ruins of (Washinton?) and the library etc with Ustinov and his cats, was the best part for me. I watch every post-apocalypse movie just to see how well they depict the aftermath. I liked that LR went for lots of climbing weeds and foliage over everything.
The only thing I couldn't get over was the silly guns that the Sandmen used. And Michael York's acting.....
Wouldn't that be the interiors of the domed city, Janke?
Yes, the effects were pretty ordinary, weren't they. And why would you need peaked roofs in a city that's not exposed to rain? That miniature must have cost a pretty penny to build, but it detracted from the film right from the opening shot.
The robot was just plain annoying.
But, like Mal, I tried to ignore all the glaring flaws, because I love movies with a post-apocalypse theme, and I'll forgive them almost anything.
The exteriors of Washington and the countryside were much better effects. That's when the movie became more real, for me. Those creeping vines smothering the tallest buildings was a good effect. That, I liked.
That, and Jenny Agutter.![]()
Also those, of course. But don't these look pretty corny:

... and I really never could stand those lucite pillars and tubes for their "transport system":

Those things really killed the mood for me...
But I agree, the Winy City was pretty good!
PS: New game has been up since the EU morning...
Sorry, typo, I meant "Viny City"...![]()
Heck, I THINK it was. It's how i remember it, anyway.
The trivial pursuit question is a good idea. kind of like a bonus question, up for grabs by anyone.
Unfortunately google ruined such things a bit, as it would be neater if no search took place. Same goes for checking the pictures online.
Maybe we should include a rule, NOT to search the pictures online? Of course, it's not enforceable....
Yeah, that's true. But I doubt that any of the regular winners ever need to use reverse image searches anyway. I have to admit I didn't even know about them until fairly recently. Since the same coterie of people seems to participate in every game, and win, I reckon we're all able to play "fair" anyway.![]()
In any case, adding a rule prohibiting reverse image searches isn't going to change participation in the games. There's no rule against it now, but that still doesn't encourage new players to the games.
I'd like to see more participation, though. My "quotes" idea wouldn't work, because entire scripts of movies are somewhere on the Web, so even the most obscure line of dialogue would be found.
Your idea of a Trivia question, or a couple of them, might work, though. A sample question could be, "What did Dustin Hoffman's character do in "All The President's Men" that annoyed Robert Redford's character?" You'd have to have seen the movie and be paying attention, to answer that, I expect.
