Default playing minidv tapes w/o camera

What are my options? Both of my hv's are down. Just want review and upload .. if there is an adapter /Deck. Which would you suggest? Starter nothing high end.
    Thanks

Sorry, there is only high end. The cheapest is the Sony GV700. Goes for 1100 bucks.

So my vest option would be to pick up another hv20 for a couple hundred to play them.. fair enough.
I would assume there would be a market for this sorta item minus the thousand$ tag

For HDV never been. Until it found full acceptance with "low level" consumers, it was already dead. That's why you don't find much affordable infrastructure for HDV. IIRC, Sony was the only player in town. JVC had miniDV decks in SD, but I'm not sure if they ever got an H upgrade.

Not sure if I'd go with an HV20. They are getting a tad old meanwhile.

Well, as long as it works long enough for him to review and upload the tape collection...

Consumer quality HDV players have no market because commercial content is distributed on blu-ray disks. For a cheap playback-only device look for an HV20 with broken lens.

But not with a broken FireWire - so, beware! Ask any seller to guarantee that the FW is OK.
