Default Canon HV40 Used In "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol"

Just seen this in the theater, it was a pretty good movie! Tons of action! And best of all, the HV40 played a noticeably huge role up there on the big screen! Right in the theatre I yelled out "Hey they're using a HV40!" LOL I got some "Ssssssshes"

Also seen, though only for a second, 12 seconds into the following trailer:

So what did they use it for? It was the agent's covert remote control for a red surveillance normal helium filled balloon flying into the Kremlin, before it (the Kremlin) blew up of course

Lots of screen time, well when I say lots I mean several seconds. There was TONS of product placement in this film, mostly iPhones, iPads, and BMWs

Good Old HV40 Still Competing With Those Big Boyz Though

Right in the theatre I yelled out
If you ever come visit our island, I doubt I'll invite you to the movie house....
"It is dark the other side. Very dark!" - "Oh, shut up and eat your toast!"

That's nice! Just watched the trailer again and I'd say:
"Can't wait to early January next week, I'll be off and I'll drive to Québec city to watch it on an IMAX screen!"

Hmm did you mean the actor just handles it in the movie or they actually used shots from it in the movie?

Damn!!! That is awesome... But how cool would it be if they had an HVFF on there and she was pulling focus? Hahaha or even had a dedicated focus puller... Haha, mission is possible

According to the screen grabs above it looks like it was a prop used in the film.

    It's a prop, not a cam

If you check the specs of the movie on IMDB, you'll see that the HV40 is a pale competitor with the others listed, especially compared to an IMAX camera shooting on 70mm prints!

There's a special circle of hell reserved for child molesters, and people that talk at the theater.

I chose my words above carefully, but yes it's just used as a prop, but up there on the big screen "playing a role" in the filming of this great movie none the less! For a camera as old as this one (and tape based yet ta boot) to still be getting product placement next to the iPhone 4s, iPad2, and an AWESOME BMW i8 Concept Future Car... that's simply amazing Maybe they should just rename/rebrand the old HV40 as the Canon i40 and sell it for $2K?

Ohh MY! Sounds dreadful! I usually don't go to theatres, I just got excited is all, I'll have to contain myself next time for sure!
