Hey, George, does that guy live close to you? Do you know anybody in the kneecap business?

No doubt, that's him. This is him too (on the right):

    Plus this one.

That seems to be the sum total of his work, on Youtube at least.

Anyway, not my problem. I'll use my credit card to replace it all and give my friend a month to settle with me. If he wants to peruse Booker Woodford, that'll be up to him.

No wonder he didn't get together with your kit. Was most likely too complex for him.

I hope everything works out for you, Huey.

Clearly! It's now obvious that Booker Woodford is just a drunken idiot who conned his university into funding the whole backward idea. I mean, a documentary about the March 11 quake? That place has had more professional TV crews than rescuers going through there.

If you ask me, Booker and his drinking buddy got drunk and lost my microphone bag. The rest falls into place then. The shame of it is that my friend, who's a very nice guy, allowed himself to get taken in by this jerk and now has to pay for it.

...and when you think that universities are supposed to be a mirror of the intellectual power of a nation, how deep must the empire have sunk?

    It's just staggering.

This is the problem with not having to pay anything for university education in England. People do it just because it's a free option and not because they have actual intentions to take the work seriously.

In Germany you have to have specific grades (numerus clausus) in your high school exams to get direct access to university. Some states have introduced tuitions over the last couple of years, from token fees to levels close to US State College tuitions. Before it was free too, besides some ~75 bucks admin fees per semester.

Almo, when you are full of piss and vinegar in foreign lands where you are not used to the local drinks, a lot of weird things can happen - believe me!

...but as that a$$ has publicized his new audio kit on facebook, I think your theory has merit.

Didn't Doc mention something? I don't use facebook, so I rely on his report.

My friend met them in Tokyo to hand over the bag, at a bar. Lets say they carried on the tour after he left and got sh!tfaced?

No, like I said, my friend has to settle with me once I've replaced everything. Of course I'm sure he'll try and get Booker Woodford to reimburse him in return, but good luck with that!

That is a tough one, hope you get the gear back or a replacement.

I have loaned out quite a bit over the last few years. I usually get most of it back. The big stuff always comes back, but wires adapters and little things get lost in the shuffle.

On a good note, my ZOOMH4n has been borrowed and used all over the USA. Pretty famous as it was used in a George Lucas interview at Skywalker Ranch. It is beat up, has gaffer tape on it to hold the battery cover on, but it is now one of my prized possessions for sure.

I am all for helping people out, but there is a code most of us follow, get the gear back to the person you got it from. This is on and off the set.

I did see a fight once between a couple of grips over a roll of tape once, brutal!

I lent a camera (T3i) yesterday. But I lent "me" also.

I let one of our gun club officers use it to take some stills documenting shooting range improvement progress. He'd been using his old Minolta SRT 101 but just discovered the film he's been using can no longer be processed. He called me for advice on purchasing DSLRs and I offered to let him "reshoot" his latest attempt with one of mine.

It went well, I got the camera back of course (never left my sight), he got some decent photos and also got to try some "hands on" with one of the cameras he's considering.

This is about the only way I'll "lend" stuff. If he had dropped it and totalled it out my insurance would cover my loss because I was present and "involved" in the camera's usage.

I even got in some "trigger time" when we were done.

Ohhh, it's about as bad as having your stepmother with you then! (kidding!)

I'd personally do something similar if I had to. But even so, I'd prefer to do the job for free and do it myself, so if something ever happens, it'll be my fault and I won't be frustrated after somebody else than me.

    Good news!

We think the microphone bag has been held at parcel office. My friend has been away and there was a delivery notice at his place, this morning. He's off visiting in laws for the NY holiday, so we won't know for sure until thursday, but looking good. Then I'll have to take back all the the things I was thinking about that young guy!

Fingers crossed for good outcome with everything in working order.

Maybe just a close call, eh?

I hope the package is your mic kit.
