I have been shooting (PAL format) with my HV20 for a sometime and now am about to transfer my videos from tape to my PC (Windows 7) for editing with Premiere Elements 10. At the moment my intention is to capture the video on to my PC to archive it so that I can edit it in the future when I have the time. I don't want to leave the videos on the tapes, in case my HV20 packs up.
I have the following questions:
A How do I find out the settings that I used for taking the videos. I suppose I would need to know this to set PE 10 for capturing.
B Is there any advantage in capturing the whole tape in smaller parts rather than in one big file. One file would be perhaps better for archiving.
C How do I find out if there were dropped frames during capture with PE10
D I have used a program called DV Data to display date/time stamp on videos in the past but this program doesn't work with HDV. What program are you guys using to display the date/time stamp on your videos. For videos of kids, I find it very important to be able to display the date on video.
Best regards
