Default HF G10 Vs. XF100 :: Which one should I get?

Im thinking about buying one of these 2 cameras, is there a real big difference in the image quality between both since the XF100 is much more expensive??? Is it a better idea to buy the G10, save some money and spend in add ons???
    Thanks!

The features are the main difference, but the XF100 has lots of fans. Features are important.

The XF100 is 4:2:2 colorspace, the G10 is 4:2:0. If you plan to send it to broadcast, some will require that as a minimum. Others camera guys say they send HDV footage in all the time and it goes on the air. But some outlets spec 4:2:2 as a minimum. Furthermore, if you plan a lot of editing and color correcting in post, you'll loose a lot of color info with 4:2:0. Finally, the G10 is a nice camera, but it is limiting in some ways. The viewfinder is small, neet to go through the menu a little more (but touchscreen is pretty easy to get used to), and lack of ND filters, and worst of all there isn't a proper cold shoe like the XA10. It's not fully settled if it has the same sensor as the XA10 either. The XA10 shoots immaculate video and the wide field of view is great. Colors are really nice. It's small, but shoots like a larger cam. I had the G10 but sent it back right away for the XA10. Just enough extra features to justify it.

Honestly, if you bought the G10 and replaced the top plate with one from an XA10 (from Canon parts), you'd have a cold shoe and could put your mic on there for a lot cheaper than the XA10 or the XF. If you need the features of the XF, then, that's the one to get.
