It's there (just checked) so everything's ok. It simply needs to be approved.
Simply let it on vimeo and wait, I'll approve the video on time on January 3rd for the deadline.

You can if you want, I don't see anything against that, as the videos aren't private until the deadline.
It will be viewable/accessible on your personal vimeo profile but it won't show on the official Antman Contest page on vimeo.

BTW, Charlie just uploaded her entry...I helped her a bit earlier tonight for the editing...I'm tired and I have 3 more days to work (12hrs/day) so I'll probably won't show much online in the next hours. Best wishes to everyone, have a good year and let's see more entries in the contest! (Tim, where are you?)

Not sure if I get that completely but anyway, it still says the video is "pending" for approval, hope everything is fine.

    Good luck!

It's only because your video has been added to the group, and that a mod (me, Randy or AJUK) needs to "approve" them in it or not. We usually do that at the deadline.
Your video can be watched from your vimeo profile but requires to be approved in the group page.

Deadline has come and gone! I am not an admin on Vimeo, so Marc or John, please go in and set it so we can see the entries.

We had two entries this time. They should both be visible now on the links below:

Charlie Tango 'American Heros in Action'

Here are my reviews and scores for the two entries. The other judges Vishus and Corben T will be posting their reviews shortly. Good luck to both entrants, may the best wo/man win

    Teddy and Teddy - Reelaxed

Detailed comments on: Teddy and Teddy

Story: The concept was light on story, working more as a sight gag for the various ways the toy animal could be posed. There seemed to be some in-jokes between the actors, but overall the story was clearly secondary to the gags.

Cinematography: The camerawork was very simple, with some shots suffering from excessive camera-shake (a tripod would have helped) and soft-focus or over exposure in some shots.

Post-Production: The post work was simple but effective, with nice use of titles, but there was little obvious grading across the footage. A more stylised look would have helped to seal the hollywood trailer vibe.

Sound: The voiceover was effective, and generally the soundtrack worked well.

Production Design: The production design was minimal, the choice of locations appeared to be random, with the majority of the footage shot in or around a single bridge location. There was no apparent costume design.

    Story: 5/20
    Cinematography: 5/20
    Post-production: 6/20
    Sound: 11/20
    Production Design: 1/20
    Overall 28/100

Judges Summary Review: This was a simplistic one-joke short. I would have expected to see more of a narrative, or at least some indication of what the story might be in the fictional full length film. A sense of what the dogs motive was, or some shots of it doing something more dynamic might have helped. As it stands, the idea is possibly a little too straightforward to stretch out to a running time of almost two minutes. At half that this might have been punchier and more fun, I much preferred the futuristic organ donor film you entered last time.

American Heros in Action – Charlie Tango

Detailed comments on: American Heroes in Action

Story: The concept was a light hearted riff on the soldiers in ‘Small Soldiers’ and ‘Toy Story’ with a childs favourite toys turning out to be a terrorist threat to the nation, striking out to begin a revolution against the government. I took this to be a satire on the methods which toy manufacturers use to encourage children to covet the latest toys and gadgets. It’s a nice concept, but a tighter edit would have helped to keep it snappy. I felt that it dragged on a bit after the 1:30 mark.

Cinematography: The camerawork was very effective, with nicely framed shots and simple lighting to suggest an empty living room at night.

Post-Production: The post work was effective, the titles were a little cheesy with the stencil font, but they worked well to bring a coherent military feel to the project. I liked the comedy co-production logos at the head of the film, having not one, but two production houses was an effective way to poke fun at the big hollywood trailers with their overlong intro sequences. The post grading was effective, the shots felt coherent and the visual effects shot of the flying helicopter worked well.

Sound: The voiceover was nicely gruff, although some of the lines were a little difficult to make out. The soundtrack music worked well and the overall impression was of a solid, polished product.

Production Design: The careful use of sets and props to tell the story, as well as the choice of individual ‘actors’ for the small cast worked very well, this was a great example of telling a story with what is to hand.

    Story: 9/20
    Cinematography: 10/20
    Post-production: 10/20
    Sound: 15/20
    Production Design: 10/20
    Overall 54/100

Judges Summary Review: This was a fun little short, and it was good to see Charlie and Drapema not taking themselves too seriously and having a good time making a film. For me this was easily the best of the two entries this time.

I hope you'll like Charlie's video. I helped her with the editing (green screen mainly) and I've done a couple of shots and did mainly the lighting. And the voices...! Hope you'll enjoy it, not the best we did, but with "holidays time constrains" at least we did something!

    1) Thanks for the review John. So far, I think Huey was to step in and post a review for this one, as last time no one showed to review the entries (from the listed judges).

    2) From what I've counted, it's more 54 than 28!
    3) We had a lot of fun, indeed! Especially being tired during the holidays and playing with the kid's toys to make a movie with them! He was so wondering how the helicopter was flying "alone" when he watched it! Funny!

Let's wait on Huey's review and maybe somebody else could step in?

Hey drapes, I liked your entry... well Charlie's entry... it was neat! I thought the voice overs were funny, actually sounded like the real thing. The music added a lot too. Your cinematography was great!!!!!! There were so many details in there, for example the light from the helicopter shining down at the base. Good stuff!!!!!!!

Thanks all for the great comments! I like the detailled review thanks John. By reading those I can improve my work and I appreciate it! I'm not much present these time, but with the familly I have to set the priorities! I will try to enter more often this new year, it's part of my new resolutions!

The hard part in that story was to make Draps to accept to follow my "artirstic vision" of that! Otherwise he would have make something dramatic (as usual).
I want to highlight that it's a team work even if I submited it. It was mainly my idea and concept, but I had the chance to have Draps to help me on multiples aspects, like the editing (the green screen part! ) and the lighting too. I liked his voices, it was funny! And I also like the humoristic take on the characters' names too. Never intended to take this much seriously, but I think it was fun to make and watch.

I don't want to judge the other video, but I liked it too. It was funny, light and well thought. There was a certain amount of work in post and I like the cinematography in general. The concept wasn't bad either. I like it. Having to choose between both (let's say it wouldn't be one of mine) I would be confused which I like the most. It was well done.
If it would have been your previous entry against mine, I would have choose the other without hesitation. Thanks and congratulations for your good work! I like to watch your videos! And your participation into the contest is also great!
    All Draps gear!

I really liked both entries. RelaxedStudios entry had nice humor in it and made me giggle a couple times, and it looked nice. Definitely seemed like they had fun making it. Charlie's entry I really liked the idea and how everything was executed. It had that summer blockbuster feel (in a much smaller form of course -.-), with nice shots, and the voices were funny. All around good entries, but If I had to choose one I'd be Charlie's due to the overall execution. Well done on both!

    Reelaxed Studios 'Teddy and Teddy'

    Good.
Appart from the shaky camera (see later) the camera work was good. The toy was well utilized and the editing well executed. The sound track was mixed well with the VO cutting through the score.

    Not so good.

I didn't get the jokes. If the tripod gag was supposed to tie in with the shaky cam sequence, it would be lost on most people (I only picked it up on the second viewing). The rest of the humor was very esoteric. It may have benefited from a more stylized color grade, even if heavy handed, to give it a hollywood parody feel. So it comes across as three guys messing around with the camera and improvising the story after with the VO and editing.

Reelaxed Studios demonstrates some solid skills with camera and editing. For improvement he needs to find some good ideas and writing.

Charlie Tango 'American Heros in Action'

    Good.
I really liked the way she animated the toys, the tanks and helicopter movement were quite impressive. The static shots well cut with these gave the whole thing life. The soundtrack and VO worked very nicely to support the piece. The lighting and color work was very suitable too.

    Not so good.
I did notice a little camera wobble and it was a little too dark in places, although it's mid morning here with a fair bit of bright sun to compete with.

Overall it put a big grin on my face. I'm sure they had loads of fun making this and it comes across. A charming piece.

For me 'American Heros in Action' is the clear winner.

I'm glad that many people enjoyed both entries and I'm also very pleased that Huey liked Charlie's entry! She's been the brain and I've been the hands on it, but that's mainly Charlie's vision.
I'm surprised though: Huey liked the VO! I've done it with the NTG-2, sat at my computer with it running like 2 feet from the mic. Looks like it has such a great off-axis rejection:

    My rambling reviews!

Funny how we ended up with two trailers in the end, and both with toys coming to life!

    Teddy and Teddy:
I liked the humour! The "movie guy" voice was pretty good! It was a bit much by the end, but pretty spot-on! Are you guys using a light stand as a tripod? Bit of jump in logic from "missing friend" to "who is the killer?" It looked good in general, only a few blown-out shots. I was entertained! Would have benefited by a slightly tighter edit, maybe cut 30 seconds? I know you guys were going with the humour angle, but it would have been that much better if it felt like there was more of a script, and parts of it didn't feel like an inside joke. Either way. Thumbs up!

    American Heroes in Action:
Nice slider shots! Looks great for the most part. Could just be viewing it on vimeo, but some shots look a little soft, others were definitely too dark. Odd camera shake on some of your static shots. Really nice lighting! Convincing job on the movement for the vehicles! I didn't get the humour of the food-named soldiers. Probably very tough to get the cat to play along, but it would have been nice to see more of the enemy/threat. Audio sounded good to me! This one also felt a little long, and could have benefitted from being shorter as well! Good use of soundtrack. Overall, also a thumbs up!

Charlie Tango has already won with the first two judges choosing her entry! Congratulations!

I didn't think it was as cut and dry, and I would have been happy with either winning.

Thanks you guys, for keeping the contest alive!

    Great job everyone!
about the trailer, the seemingly non-existent plot was actually part of the gag. Most trailers nowadays show random scenes that actually tell you nothing about the movie so this was in a way also a parody of that..
Congratulations to the winner, see you next time! =)

    1) Good one!
    2) I've been surprised myself. I thought it would pick up the computer's fan noise, or even being a bit roomy...no it sounded fine. Just a bit loud on the low-frequencies, but a quick EQ in post and it was ok.

    1) That's exactly what I thought too!
    2) So we have an official winner?
    3) Yeah, at least we had more than only one "default-winning" entry, which is great. Let's move to the next contest and let's have even more entries for the upcoming theme!
Thanks everyone that has contributed in this round!

    1) I got it the first time! I was laughing alone in front of the screen. I really liked it!
    2) I enjoyed the Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake trailer for that: not showing much, only the sound of the chainsaw. It was original and I wanted to watch the movie. But the best movies I've seen (Inception and Nolan's other movies excepted!) are the ones I didn't watched the trailers before. You don't know what you're about to watch and it adds to the whole experience.
    3) I hope you'll enter the next one as well! Always doing a good job!

In Reelaxed I like how the guys pose when the narrator asks who might be the bad guy. Whole thing goes a bit too much towards parody of a trailer.

Charlie Tango's two first shots are smooth and perfect. After that the use of toys works -looks close to a real movie with real production value.
