    Default Low Resolution Exports

I am editing with FCE. I shot footage with HV40 set to HDV 24. When I export the project the resulting quicktime clip is grainy and the footage jitters. The footage is great in FCE. It's only when I export.

Is there something that I am not doing right? This happens every time, even on other projects.

We can't help you unless we know the export settings you used...

Could be bitrate, resolution, any number of things. Try listing out all of the settings, even the ones that don't seem relevant.

    FCE doesn't do 24p.
Try to shoot in 60i or 30p and repeat what you did. I bet you it'll look better.

cgbler, does that mean I have to re shoot the event. if thats the case it's too late. Which would be better, 60i or 30p, and what is the difference?

Command-Shift-4, then select an area: Take a screenshot of an area and save it as a file on the desktop

Then post here - Go Advanced - and add the image as an attachment.

If you have, you can edit your stuff in iMovie11, which does 24p, or download the FCP X trial version. In any case, you'd have to re-capture your footage.

I shoot 60i when export to DVD is the plan (we still have a mother load of CRT TVs on the island). 30p for web use.
