Why are you selling it? Did you upgrade?
The Korova milkbar sold milk-plus, milk plus vellocet or synthemesc or drencrom, which is what we were drinking. This would sharpen you up and make you ready for a bit of the old ultra-violence.

I haven't needed it for a long time now. The kind of projects I do currently don't even require anything more than shotgun mic work.

PS... I also currently own a Sony ECM 674 mic that I don't need anymore. ($250)

Just curious Huey with you being an expert in audio- what will be the next level to upgrade to from h4n?

This would be a big step up. I'm not sure if there's much in between.

    FYI....

One of the best things ever put on the market, really cleaned up my audio game for me after I started using mine. Get your levels set, and this thing will bring your production home for you. This is a better than average price for the unit, even used.

Might be a little "off-topic" but as it's almost already been sold I can ask the question:
People here are "lauding" the H4n as one of the best recorder available (you and Huey in this case). But I've read a totally different story on DVXuser.com. People are saying that it's not bad, but that the Tascam is way better (less noisy preamp, longer battery life...). So, you guys that have worked with it, I'd be up to change my H2 probably in the upcoming year, and I'm confused, what do you think?
I DO IT BECAUSE I CAN. I CAN BECAUSE I WANT TO. I WANT TO BECAUSE YOU SAID I COULDN'T.

I have one already, buying another one, that says it all!

Personally I use external batteries to power the one I have, but the device's battery life isn't too bad considering the screen size and functionality

I am VERY happy with the pre-amps in this device, however I hear great things about that Tascam as well, but I have never bothered to get one so I can't compare it... Sorry Drapes, you will need someone who either owns or has used both, which will be hard to find on this board. Maybe post a (new) thread asking for a comparison?

I have found the H4n to be one of the best. Like anything, you have to get used to it. I sync in post with pluraleyes just to not have wires to deal with and limit camera movement.

    1) The good old standbye - unit on a tripod or boom with a windscreen right out of frame, using on board mics. For an interview right at chest level.

    2) Perfection - Unit set to side of production, wireless lave mics, through XLR on bottom. Used during a film I was working on. Nothing but the actors voice.
The sound guy (one of the best in Hollywood) had not used an H4n before and made it sing for us. Even went and bought one after seeing it in action.

    3) Tips, get mics close, get the area as quiet as you can, -12 to -6 is the sweet spot, record 48k .wav when possible.

Batteries? lol I have been on 10 hour shoots with the zoom on and not had to change them once. It comes with an a/c adaptor as well. I usually fill up a 8GB card faster than the batteries. I do checnge them with every shoot though just to be sure.

The XLR option is Priceless and others rave about the 4 channel, but I have not gotten that advanced with it yet. 2 channel kind of guy.

I have learned to depend on it, it has never let me down, and not one client has ever complained about the audio.
