Thumbs up The Care Taker: A Southern Gothic Tale

An extremely ambiguous take with a Southern Gothic theme. PLEASE view and leave comments on what you think was the message/what you think happened.

It looks like he just didn't want to be bothered, and choked his friend half to death, got him out of the building, went back to his room to have some peace. His friend seemed to be insecure, and was helping him because he could feel superior to him, and not really because he cared so much. I guess the wheelchair guy is mentally unstable, and probably agoraphobic, but played it off just long enough to do what he had to do to resolve his personal crisis of being bothered, and taken out of his nest. Its an uncomfortable watch. The music was claustrophobic and added to his racing thoughts and the feel that he really has some kind of schizm. I think its a good film, but its not an enjoyable film. I really didn't like the friend, and it seems like you did that on purpose. I didn't feel for either character, and I think that is why it was a hard watch, emotionally. There was no emotional buffer. A harsh story.

I too found the short uncomfortable to watch. My $.02- that the main character is surrounding himself with acquired 'friends' to share his exile. It felt like by murdering them (the first one was the blood stain on the roof), he gains companionship of a type he craves: constant, unchanging and utterly compliant.
