Antmans Film Contest #27 'Quotes'

Following on from the Noir contest we have decided to base the next contest around a different kind of theme. This time it is Quotes, make a film which features a selection of quotes from history or popular culture, for example you might work a line from a famous movie into your dialogue, or find a unique way to reference a quotation from a great historical figure, or perhaps you could make a story about a reporter trying to get a quote for a story or a workman giving a quote on a job... The choice is yours and one that should offer some great opportunities for creative writing.

Obviously the more creative the way the quotes are included and the more quotes the better, so get your thinking caps on!

The Theme is "QUOTES"

You are free to make whatever story, whatever type of video you wish as long as it respects the following rules:

Rules:
1) Can't be longer than 5 minutes
2) Shouldn't be rated over PG-13, unless specifically mentioned in the contest's individual thread.
3) Video should be posted on vimeo official page ONLY. Videos for the current theme will not be available to view until the contest deadline > managed by drapeama, Vishus or AJUK, moderators of the official page.
4) The winner can enter the next competition. Their entry will be considered 'non competitive' to make it fair on others.
5) a) Use of copyrighted material/songs : as long as it's not the center point/plot of the story, it's allowed. Otherwise user will be disqualified. Example : the coca-cola can/SONY tv . somewhere in the movie isn't considered as a copyrighted infringement.
b) “Use of copyrighted music both in lyrics, score or performance, other than such that is recorded incidentally during normal filming, without a release will result in the video being disqualified. “
6) Entries must be made specifically for the theme submitted to, within the deadline. All entries made before the announcement of the theme will be disqualified.
7) Users judging the contests, officials judges or not, should use the template available in this post to post their reviews. Of course, only the officials judges' reviews will be considered to decide on a winner.

Contest deadline is Sunday 21st August 2011 23.59 UTC (11.59pm) . Which translates to roughly 3 weeks for this one.

Just reading over the rules again, is rule #4 still being implemented? I think they should be able to enter again and not be limited to a non-competitive entry. Also, the short doesn't have to be revolved around a quote right? Just making sure. I like this theme though. I will try to get something done, like always.

Yep, that's right, the quote just needs to be included in a clever way, and the more quotes the better. For example, you could make a film where the entire dialogue is repurposed quotes from other films... Or you could interpret a famous quote from a historical figure and base your story on it... Or anything really... The more creative the better. Think about what 'quote' could mean in different contexts and go wild.

There is a really great prize too, and for the first time we will also be handing out banners for 2nd and 3rd places too, so there is something for everyone in this competition.

1) Yeah, as long as the quote is one that everyone know...read: we won't have to search through the short 3x what's that famous line!
2) I think too, when it's free it's always great!
3) About the banner, we'll start from now on with the new version and every entry will be listed as 1st, 2nd and 3rd place and what I'd suggest would be to use the "signpic" in their signature highlighted with the link to the wall of fame, so all the entries would be available to view there.

Seriously, as the theme is "Quotes" I'd say let's build your story around famous quotes! Even if it doesn't make sens, it'll be fun to watch!

Cool, same here. I'm trying to develop my script first, then try and fit in the quote somewhere after. I hope it works out.

I think I'll align the quotes and try to write a story with all of them in it. Easier I think.
