Default Lovely GH2 video and GH2 on Safari

Very nice video of a Mercedes AMG E 63 photo shoot in Kuala Lumpur shot by Pilpop on a GH2 with Nokton 25mm f0.95, Olympus 9-18mm, Panasonic 20mm, Panasonic 14-140mm, Glidecam HD-1000, Glidetrack:

The GH2 on safari (stills), "I was surprised by how well thought out this camera is. laFar superior to anything Canon or Nikon or Sony or Fuji have to offer."

That's such an irritating look and the effing passby F1 sound, horrible. Sometimes it's lovely - the Merc shots - but mostly the vignette with the high, flared centre sucks arse.

Yes true, they kept the color a tad low for my taste but the vimeo feedback says it all.A great camera for sure.

Personally, I liked it -- watched full screen. The sound effects...maybe not so much but it didn't bother me. It was someone's creativity and I, and judging by the comments, others applaud that. The GH2 looks darn good in this. I like the B&W in the tight headshot part of interview and the surreal looking "IR" street shots as the car drove around.

Crosby...saw that a while back. That is a nice video indeed. The color correction might not have been some folks favorite but I liked the piece as a whole.
In regards to the ongoing GH-2 HACK however I think the following video is one of the best looking images recently spit out by a GH-2.

What's extra cool about it is that it's shot at high ISO's. Very detailed.

    I liked it, very clean.
I never knock this stuff, especially because I have the same camera and nothing I do so far comes even close to this. Even if I could, I can't argue with artistic intention; lens flares, etc. - even if it's something I wouldn't have chosen.
No matter if money is a motivator or not - the truth is you have to go out and do it. And it's not easy. Having the education behind you to know what to do is also admirable.

I saw this last week and was also impressed. The lack of noise in those
indoor shots with low light are particularly impressive.

I still haven't done the hack - although lpowell's 100mbps low light MPEG hack looks tempting. I'm apprehensive due to the 2gb limit and the fact that the only Panasonic firmware available is a leaked version.

Ian, that was pretty nice, thanks. Told a buddy (who has 4 hacked GH1's along with his expensive gear) about it right after your post. He watched it and then downloaded it and converted it to B&W and said it looks even better that way. Nice.

Net, I, too, have the same gear and nothing I've done so far is that nice. Even if it was I wouldn't knock it, I appreciate people's individual taste and creativity and the fact that they're doing something with the gear.

I, also, liked Pilpop's bathroom exploration video shot with a Voigtlander 25/0.95 and his handheld GH2 at 3200 with 20/1.7 shoot in a film projection/editing room.

Saw the making of the last Star Trek movie and how they were excited about the way they could shine flashlights in the lenses and get flares -- and they did it a lot. It worked for them and I liked the movie.

I don't like that color work either. The content is boring, the interviewee has nothing interesting or intelligent to say and the the location audio is F'd up.

    Lovely video?
Sorry, but I beg to differ.
The Korova milkbar sold milk-plus, milk plus vellocet or synthemesc or drencrom, which is what we were drinking. This would sharpen you up and make you ready for a bit of the old ultra-violence.

While this cam seems to put out some sweet footage, the AMG clip was too much over-stylized eye candy.

I posted it in this section to show GH2 footage for those that are interested in seeing how the camera does. Would have posted one of someone's newborn if the footage looked good.

Feel free to post your vastly superior GH2 footage in this section as well. I'm sure there's people that will miss the point and take pleasure in telling you what you did "wrong" as well.

It wouldn't be hard to make a more interesting movie with an iPhone.

Again, this was just showing some GH2 footage, not the best in film making. A lot of the HV20 footage that we were smiling at a few years ago weren't the best movies we'd ever seen, but they were shot with a HV20 which was amazing for the size and price.

This one, to my understanding, was some GH2 footage shot during a photo shoot. Doubt it was supposed to be an interesting movie. As for the effects, sound, etc. I doubt this was a big production. I think he was having fun and experimenting and I applaud him for that and am happy he posted it. People don't like it, fine, some people won't like anything, regardless. Read the comments, some people actually seem to like it.

As to shooting a more interesting movie with an iPhone, cool. Post it and let me know, I'll be happy to check it out.

The sweet GH2 footage is what I was trying to show. As for the stylizing, you may be right but it's difficult to tell what was going on. I've done work at the requests of clients that's not my style but it's what they wanted and, while not my personal taste, I still enjoyed creating it. Ad agencies, etc. love that "eye candy" stuff. It's all over TV and theatre ads.

On the other hand, I'm sure my personal taste is outside the taste of some others. A close friend likes soft and muted colors, just this side of B&W. I like saturated colors and don't mind my video looking like video (I have shot film). While his style is not mine I sure as heck appreciate it and like seeing what he does.

Back to topic, we both have GH's. He has 4 - GH13s and I have 2 - GH2s and we're both happy that we can do what we do with them.

Agreed, and a few are quick to point that out to you, too.

Saw the skateboard one and the India one (below) in the another GH2 thread. I liked both.

Just saw the trailer for Red Tails that Bloom shot some of using a 5DMKII and 7D as well -- shot next to some Sony F35's. Things have changed for the better, for sure.

    Back to GH2 footage:
