    Default GH1 users take note! - Matching my GH1 with my Canon HV30 (colour/image)

    Hey guys;

    I tried another forum for this but it was ignored. I'm hoping there are others on here that happily mix GH1 and HV30 footage with no issues and can give me a helpful answer.

    I'm looking at matching the cinemode image of my HV30, in some way to a flat profile setting on my GH1.

    Does anyone have any experience in this that could help me out? I've been trying for two weeks to tweak these two and it's doing my head in.

    Any help would be appreciated!

    On the GH1, you can put the dial to the Creative Motion Picture
    Mode
    and make sure to properly set the white balance using that function.

    Press the Film Mode button, which allows adjustment of the the color tone for the image. See what you have it at now, some of them boost the saturation, for example.

    After pressing the Film Mode button (right corner of the camera/on top):

    Choose "Smooth" and then adjust the variables to:
    CONTRAST= -2
    SHARPNESS= -2
    SATURATION= -2
    NOISE REDUCTION = 0

    Press set/sat as MY FILM 1, which can be used again after the camera is turned off. Note: I do not have the GH1 presently; believe this is how to save it as My Film 1, but check for yourself.

    Didn't azmyth use a HV40 and a GH1 for his film?

    Thanks Net, I will check this out. I find that this camera just doesn't seem to go flat enough for my tastes. Who knows, maybe I'm doing it wrong. I might try and tweak the HV to the GH1 as well and get them as equal as possible.

    Cheers!

    Setting a custom profile for GH1 helped us match to HV20.

    That said, even with this and white balancing I'm finding that some post is required to get the exact 1=1 (E.G. a conference I shot a couple of months ago using mostly available light supplemented with some 5500K CFLs took some finagling to get right even between the GH1 and GF1 both shooting w/custom profiles, wearing similar lenses, etc.).

    Actually, go with these:

    CONTRAST= -2
    SHARPNESS= -2
    SATURATION= 0
    NOISE REDUCTION = -2

    Although the differences are slight, eyepatchentertainment on YouTube recommends the above settings, so go with those:

    This is great. I have an HV 20 and HV30 I want to match with a Panasonic GH1. I've been wondering about these settings also. I can't wait to try it out...
