Watched the first video. Quite good "product tour" showing the different lenses available and how they perform. Nice. I'm very happy with my T2i but this one panasonic model seems very good too.

That's probably the video I didn't watch. The one I was refering to was the one with the skateboard guys showing the gear, stuff and lenses (first link).

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nITdG4dCBjY it does not always pay to reduce the sound for online video as this proved, too soft to get the full atmosphere, the 9-18mm or 18x28mm after alowing for the crop is wide enough for most things, the 14 and 20mm pancakes i have are good indoor lenses but fixed lenses are limited for me,the 14-140mm great outdoor lens and the 45-200mm fine for nature especialy useing 2.6x E-T-C

Would it be worth upgrading from the GH1 to the GH2?

The one thing that makes me weary is the lack of progressive video within the camera... Something I tend to prefer shooting with.

There has always been 24P and 720P but now the 1.1 update gives a new high bit rate and 25P in a 50i wrapper,http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread...do-25p-and-30p there is a lot on here about it.

Yeah that wrapper thing is what annoys me most about it.

most seem happy with it, its not like 50i as my tests yesterday showed.

I get your point about using true progressive footage, butI'd say it's not the worst thing. Also, you can always convert 24p to 25p by adding 4% of speed and adjust the pitch to match the new framerate. Would be simple to set in Vegas directly. That would be "true" progressive in a way.

The wrapper doesn't change much, maybe only if you need to edit "frames" only. But for the rest, if it's a show that you simply have to adjust colors/sound and some details, it doesn't change much. I'd say that having a 25p in a 50i wrapper simply gives you more compatibility: it can be read by any TV/Device but it remains "progressively shot" so there's no need to deinterlace, it's already compliant.

True and as far as i know the 25P in the GH2 is the same as the GH1s 25P.

But this all comes down to the extra "work". I do videos that require the to be cut, rendered and uploaded within a few days and look like a months work (well... I try anyway), so having to slowdown footage, change pitch etc... it's just painful, and adds time to my editing.

I'm confident Vitaliy (I can't remember his name) will have the GH2 properly hacked very soon... maybe 25p will be something else he'll unlock.

I am about to get rid of this faulty T2i and I want one of the swivel lcd cams. I loved the GH1 when I had it, except for that horrible banding i was getting. I wouldn't mind checking into the GH1.. but your saying the 24p isn't 24p like it is on the t2i?

Take a look at the T3i Az... you might find more comfort in the newer model.

I like the GH1, it just needs a hack to get rid of the banding (although, "banding" isn't what I saw with this camera). The GH2 may be what you're looking for... check out Vimeo for example clips or something.

    What extra time ?
    I upgraded into new firmware in GH2, because i didn't had 25p.
Now i have it, wrapped in 50i , and with clip wrap (rewrap - not re encoding) is very fast and easy.
Its like copying from sd card to computer via third program .

Not my words but from someone on a question i asked about the 25P IN GH2s update.
