Antman's Film Contest #25: Horror

After what would appear to be a successful and interesting Contest #24, I'm happy to officially set the next contest and theme for you all. I hope to see the calibre of quality I saw for the last theme

The Theme is "HORROR"

As in, there is no required elements to include. You are free to make whatever story, whatever type of video you wish as long as it respects the following rules:

Rules:
1) Can't be longer than 5 minutes
2) Shouldn't be rated over PG-13, unless specifically mentioned in the contest's individual thread.
3) Video should be posted on vimeo official page ONLY. Videos for the current theme will not be available to view until the contest deadline > managed by drapeama, Daniel Rutter or AJUK, moderators of the official page.
4) The winner can enter the next competition. Their entry will be considered 'non competitive' to make it fair on others.
5) a) Use of copyrighted material/songs : as long as it's not the center point/plot of the story, it's allowed. Otherwise user will be disqualified. Example : the coca-cola can/SONY tv . somewhere in the movie isn't considered as a copyrighted infringement.
b) “Use of copyrighted music both in lyrics, score or performance, other than such that is recorded incidentally during normal filming, without a release will result in the video being disqualified. “
6) Entries must be made specifically for the theme submitted to, within the 4 weeks deadline. All entries made before the announcement of the theme will be disqualified.

Contest deadline is 1st July 2011, 12am UTC. Which translates to roughly 4 weeks for this one.

For this contest I will donate a LED Flashlight that includes a "bicycle mount" which can be attached to a tripod or other tube,
and could be used for some creative video/film lighting. It includes two rechargeable Li-Ion batteries and a charger.

The light's beam is very even and a nice wide ~40°.


Since I am in China it will have to ship from here. This offer includes shipping worldwide.
It is brand new and nicely packaged, and should be ready by the deadline.

That's really nice from you Mal. I remember we've already talked about prizes, but it becomes complicated to manage, maybe Darth could get on this in the future? Just an idea, let's keep it simple for now, but the more we'll be to manage things maybe it could work..?

I have a Seiko watch sitting on my desk, it was a present from a lady here for whom I used to record her annual piano concerts for her students. Her husband works for the company, so I suspect she has a drawer full of them. This is one of three she's given me. It has a stainless steel bracelet, three dials on the face and does alarm plus other functions. I estimate it would cost $150 ~ $200 new. Anyways, it's sat on my desk for a year, never been worn because I like the other two watches she gave me more. So I'll throw it in as a prize to help get the new contest off to a bang!

Actually, I earned those watches doing sound work, so it is related. I'd like to award the watch for this contest, but if you insist, I'll keep it for the next.

I forget to mention that these watches are concepts, so you can't buy them. Might even be collectable. Anyways, here's one I found on Google for $180, similar except for the purple face. Mine has a silver background.

Does anyone want to try an experiment? I think it'd be really fun to do a long-distance team-up of sorts. I could film stuff here, you could film stuff on your end, then we find a way to edit it together into something great!

im in, have already come up with an idea, I want to make my film one continous shot, This is something I have practicing for about a year now, so this is a good place to see how difficult it will be. Will be working off a steadycam most likely.

@Huey, I could use a sound designer on this, i have a composer to try, I just met her about a month ago. this could be fun.

The funny thing is I was cleaning up my basement about two weeks ago, I pick up a small cardboard box, Im thinking what the hell is this. Sure enough, it's Vishus prize. lol. My wife must have put it down there without reaizing what it i was, I totally forgot about it, Out of sight out of mind. It's still all ready to ship, with a little mildue on the box. I will send it off this week vishus. Im laughing as I write this.
