    Default A alternate capture camera

On my hv20 my firewire output is broken and I was wondering if its worth fixing or i heard of people using alternate cameras to import there footage so the heads wont get wore down. should I fix my firewire plug-in or just buy a different camera to import the footage from my hv20. and if i do go with the alternate camera. any suggestions on the cheapest one I can get?

p.s. i do have another camera but its old and the footage from my hv20 wont show up on that camera so i need a good camera but cheap

Fixing the HV is about 200 bucks. For 100-150 more you can get a second hand HV30. It is up to you.

CG's right. You may find a good deal on a second hand HV20/30/40, as many people move to DSLRs these days...check the trade & exchange sub-forum.

Any brand of HDV-compliant camera should be able to play your tapes.

However, the HV is about the climax of consumer HDV technology.
