Okay, I'll put my ADMIN hat on for a sec....and I even logged in as MAL, just to make it look more official!

    1) The concept of a T-Shirt is great!
    2) Before anything gets done, and before anyone proceeds it should be decided on how they get distributed, and how they get funded, and how they get sold.
    3) the name indeed will change, but I haven't decided yet what the new name should be, so there's no stopping the T-Shirt from being "hv20.com" for now. There can always be a new one later....

#2 is IMPORTANT!!!! And that needs to be figured out first.

    Also,
YOU GUYS REALLY need to upload pictures to our server and not link them elsewhere.
Not everyone in this world lives in the USA, and not everyone in this world has completely unblocked internet!

Wow.... I didn't much in this thread besides the first post. I scrolled down and looked at the sample HV20.com tee, then I whipped this one up in Photoshop, only to find out that you guys already mentioned making one with the HVFF!!!!!!

Anyways here it is only an hour and a half later. Move over homework, let me waste time and make an HVFF t-shirt!!!

Only suitable when the name changes... then you could put the dates in even... until then this place is alive and kickin'!

Well if we're having a contest, these are my official submissions:

A director's chair, a film camera, a film strip, or the clapperboard would all work nicely...

I think the film strip in the front, with the clapper board on the back would be EXTREME! Actually that is now my primary submission:

Wow, you guys have been busy!!! It looks like this is a home run, so let's get planning. Like Mal said- distribution, funding and selling.

If anyone wants to get involved, we should appoint some "officers" to organize the logistics. Any volunteers? We need to get some quotes and such on shirts so we have an idea of how many to make and how much they will cost etc.

Then we should get the contest going (officially) and set some guidelines- like 3 entries per person or something, and a cut-off date. I guess the contest could start sooner, but having it all figured out ahead of time would be better so we can move as soon as we've figured out the design.

I like the image in posting #36, but would change front and back.
On the other hand, I live in the tropics, so I'd prefer a bare back.

I vote for design in post #36, but only one side. Swap image and use only one side (front). Not necessary image on both sides.

    I want buy it

Sites like Cafe Press and Printfection can print and ship t-shirts, coffee mugs, mouse pads and other schwag on demand and even pay a small commission to the referring site ...

But I also would like to point out (as I have before) that I would prefer
to keep the same identity as we have done for the past few years, and as such keep the same FONT!!!!!

It's "SF Atarian System", should be a free download from various sites...

Hmmmm... a movie camera and a film strip for a video forum?

Also, you got the frame line off by half a perforation (it should be between perfs), check this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/35_mm

Cool, yeah those images (as stated before) came from a stock site (similar to Cafe Press and Printfection) and reflect a film community, not necessarily this forum's community. I will start thinking of how to best capture this community's spirit on a t-shirt while using the "SF Atarian System" font, however as also stated I'm no graphic designer (yet). Because the name WILL inevitably change one day (soon?), perhaps I will pay tribute to the HXxx series by taking a stock photo of the model into Photoshop, creating a resizeable outline of the main components by selecting with the pen tool, and then bringing that outline (in forum green) onto a black t-shirt with HV20.COM angled across the chest as in the film strip tee posted above. (although many of us, including myself, have never owned a HV model, yet come here daily just the same to discuss various topics)

OTOH it seems to me many of us whether using an HVXX, a solid state version of it like the HF S series, a more pricier XH series camera, or one of a myriad of DSLR's like the T2i/T3i, 60D, 7D, 5D Mark II, Nikon, GH1/GH2, ETC, ETC, ETC... we end up trying to shoot, grade, and edit our footage to look like film anyway, so maybe a film strip or film reel isn't that far off from the essence of this forum's community after all.

Good option, no possibility of someone becoming overloaded with demand, suddenly dropping dead with our stock, causing amateur shipping errors, or printing too many, however their prices reflect that convenience, coming in at well over $20 a tee even with volume orders.

Perhaps before we go too far we should determine a price point mark to aim for, and estimate a of demand for such tees, like say a percentage of monthly traffic (could we have access to these figures?)

So what are you good people willing to pay anyways? $10 (though unlikely), $15, $20, $25 ??? (is that shipped?)

Many years ago, I bought blank T- shirts for about $2.00 apiece, and exposed & developed my own silk-screen frame (I have a repro camera), and printed the shirts all by myself, using both blue and white ink, depending on shirt color.

Yeah, I'm a tinkerer who has lost a few marbles, and my deck of cards isn't quite complete...

This is what I'm talking about- does anybody make T's or know anyone that does! It could be a lot cheaper and we'd have control every step of the way. This way we could almost make them to order too, have more design or colors, and it probably wouldn't require a ton of cash up front either.

Talking to people I know that have done shirts before from a shop- we should expect each T to be around $10-15 (for quality T's) unless we order like 100 or so, and even then it'll barely dip under $10. That's feasibly $500 or more to get it going.

Either someone will have to come up with that $$$$$ first, we take pre-order collections, or we find a way to produce them ourselves- I know Michael's (craft store) sells a pretty decent screen kit for under $300 but it would move pretty slow. I dunno, tough call here but it should definitely be the first decision made.

Just guessing, I'd think at $10, we should be able to get 50-100 people that would throw down for a shirt. If we decide to have a shop do them maybe we should post a "Do you want an HV20.com T-shirt?" poll and make it a sticky to see how many T's we'd realistically need- that way we're not ordering too many or too little, and we'd have probably have a few leftovers. Heck, if someone wants to put up the cash- let them make the money. It could be an easy way to make some cash if it's done right. I think $10 is the right price though.

So before we all get crazy making (hilarious/awesome/inappropriate/funny/cool) designs, let's figure out how we're going to make it happen....

Guys, how about KICKSTARTER? Let's do $1000 for 100 tee's. 30 days to raise the funds, minimum pledge $10, some could donate more if they'd like. I think that is the best way to do it and will be very organized when sending stuff out..
