Default RODE NTG-2 Up Close and Personal

Here we have the latest video from KCMG TV that demonstrates the awesome sound quality that you can receive from the RODE NTG-2. There was wind blowing during the majority of this video yet you never hear it.

Yeah well I thought everyone had heard of you guys... I certainly had, and have watched a number of your videos in the past... however, now that I see you're not as popular as I once thought you were, will I keep watching? Well... umm... no guarantees.

As for the mic, that was already scheduled for my next purchase from B&H, along with the blimp and accessories. Should pair well with the Zoom H4n. Thanks for the outdoor demo.

PS I'm willing to wager that was one of your girlfriend's in the car...

Good job, but flying the mic around like that is quite unnecessary.
Yeah getting the mic close is important, but there's no need to stick it people's faces. Hold it a bit lower and find a mid point between the speakers, then you need only pivot the wrist to point it.

Lots of wind around? All those girls with long soft hair but not one of them had mussed hair. In fact, nobody's hair moved in the breeze, and nobody's clothes flapped. There was a slight, brief breeze at about 1:36, which slightly flipped the blonde's hair a little bit, but she hardly noticed. Apart from that, it all looked dead still there.

Not knocking the mic, I have one myself, but I just wonder why the wind wasn't noticeable if it was as bad as you say.

Yeah seriously, I didn't see any major artifacts moving from the wind. I spotted his blue shirt at 3:12. Look at the trees in the background too, there's nothing...

Yeah. Maybe it's usually extremely windy where they are...

Absolutely no handling noise...I don't buy it.

I didn't say there was a hurricane, but you could still feel a breeze. As for throwing the mic in their face, it was more for a comical effect with the big fuzz right up close. I used the JuicedLink preamp with the RODE deadcat. The handling noise was because we dragged the 25 ft cable around with us attached to the mic.

Right, it doesn't take a lot for wind to cause rumble. Wind protection is always a good idea outside.

Exactly. Better have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

    1) Good setup. I also use a JuicedLink and it delivers great results.
    2) This microphone isn't really much sensitive, as I almost didn't heard any handliing noise, hence my previous post. If I'd try that with my SGM-1x, that would be a disaster.

I find it to be very sensitive for the price. Obviously a more high end mic will be more sensitive. Its a great mic. I love it.
