I have a scene in mind. I'm gonna try to get it done. I have 2 shorts (1 in post and 1 filming) that I have to get done by May 23rd. Odds are good that ill be able to get something in.

1) Good to hear, hope it'll help you as well.
2) Well, you can write my name as a judge, no prob, as I'll probably submit a NCE if I ever submit something.
Would it be a good idea to make a template to fill the judgment? Just like for the first post every new contest? PM me I can always see if I can help you, if you ever want my help, of course.
That would be great to watch your entries, both of you guys are making good work. I'll try to boost the numbers of entries up to 3, while mine will probably a NCE due to the "twist" that I don't particulary encourage.
If we all submitted non-competitive entries, would that make Daniel scrap the contest?
Seriously though, I don't know what movie it is, but maybe you can throw something like that obscurely in the background? That way it won't be in the way of anything. That could not work either depending on the scene. It's tricky.
Just to correct you on this: I asked for my moderator status to be removed because I haven't been much active for a while because I split, I had to move to my parents then and we had to sell the house we bought realier in the year, so my mind was a bit...somewhere else at the time. That and the fact that I didn't have an internet connection for a while during this, so it became obvious that I couldn't handle it properlly.
It wasn't because the contest was stressing me buddy!
But it's over now, and everything came back to something more normal if I can say...
I'd be willing to help in any way. I do think someone more involved in the forum would be better though.
Daniel, it's nothing against you personally. I'm grateful that you've kept this competition alive. I just think your personality kind of clashes with the role of overseeing the contest.
So because I'm not involved with the forum, because I have a life... I can't run this contest? You know, you're right... somebody who spends almost 24/7 on this forum and doesn't do anything else might be better.
If your not qualified, suggest someone who is. If a new "leader" is wanted, go ahead... select one.![]()
How about Vishus?
The Korova milkbar sold milk-plus, milk plus vellocet or synthemesc or drencrom, which is what we were drinking. This would sharpen you up and make you ready for a bit of the old ultra-violence.
The fun factor seems now to have got lost because of themes that require extreme writing skills when people rather would prefer to focus more on
technical aspects. Assignments that helps the film maker half way to produce something awesome would in theory be the key to success.
That the moderator is a problem is a claim that I don't share at all. Now he's honest and supportive. That is a lot.
My point is that you put a lot of work into a film and you want the end result to look professional... also without that you have to explain that this was something foolish thing for a complicated contest that screwed up the film. And if you aren't a professional writer you won't even notice that the task you have is what I call impossible = conflicts on the fundamental level. So you sit there and try and try and it makes you tired and frustrated. When you realize you'll be filming something you aren't fully satisfied it eats your motivation without that you even notice.
OK, guys.
Step back a moment, reread this whole thread and see how it would look to an outsider. Perhaps one that was looking for a contest venue to participate in.
I suggested sometime back to the folks at dvinfo.net who wished there were more than just 3 "challenges" a year that they come over here and look at this setup, where a new one started about every two weeks.
What little feedback I got from that was in the vein of,
"Get serious!"
"That's a bunch of children can't keep from quibbling".
As far as this contest venue goes, you people are your own worst enemy. If you really wanted it to succeed then each one of you would "plunge in", take the "challenge" and give it your "best shot".
It's either a contest or it's not. It IS that simple.
Daniel can be a little "rough" around the edges at times. The first time he looked at one of my efforts he literally "ripped me a new one" on one aspect of it.
Yes, it "stung" a bit. But my own sense of pride wouldn't let me show it, and he was correct. Since then I've got to know him (as well as one can with just electronic communication, emails & such) and consider him a friend. He has tried to run this contest honestly and with enough occasional "difficulty" so it becomes a "challenge".
A contest with no "challenge" is not a contest.
Were I running this thing you would all feel much the same about me, I would likely run it very much the same way Daniel has. And by now I would have thrown up my hands in disgust and walked away. It is VERY MUCH to his credit that he has not done so.
You all have two choices:
Each one of you tackle his "challenge" and produce something to enter WITH NONE OF THIS NONSENSE ABOUT NON COMPETITIVE ENTRIES IN PROTEST that is one of the most CHILDISH things I've seen here.
Or step back and say to yourself "I don't like this" and just don't even try, therefore continuing the "non participation" that plagues this place.
And then we have a "drive by shooter" who either never really participates here or has created a new account with the "screen name" YouWereThinkingTheSame trying to stir things up calling for Daniel's head.
If anyone is going to be straightening this place up it will be you folks...
...If you have what it takes to enter a contest.
Erik Bien, one of the site moderators left a few comments here, go back and re-read them. He is in support of what Daniel is trying to do for you folks and if I were you I "heed" his words as possibly a bit of a "warning". Mal (the site owner, I believe) at one time indicated he might take this contest over and run it himself...
...If he had the time. But he also admitted he probably didn't have the time to do so in which case he would likely shut this contest down.
So keep up this childish conduct and you just might get the whole thing shut down on you.
I had planned on coming back here and participating again when I got some family stuff taken care of but after what I've seen here the last few days, I don't think I'll even try.
I wish you all well, and I hope you get yourselves straightened out. I hope you people can just produce entries, submit them and yourselves make this contest into something worth keeping.
Leadership has far less to do with it than competitors "gumption" and dedication.

I am a reforming videomaking addict
1) I have too, but it seems that it hasn't been interpreted that way for me neither.
2) Everyone that make the effort to participate automatically gets respect I'd say.
3) Of course not. People, and I too, said that Daniel was stubborn the way he's managing the contest. Bruce, who's helping Daniel to manage the contest, and Daniel himself are saying that we're childish because we are not supporting them 100% the way they're doing.
Sounds like that line in Casino: "There are three ways of doing things around here: the right way, the wrong way and the way that l do it."
As do I, and everyone here, but since the people speaking up (most) have contributed entries into the contest I think it's right that we can express our opinions so that entries continue to come in and support the contest and get it straightened out. If we all silently accepted the twist without any retort, I think that, if anything, would produce less entries if we all just didn't care. But we do.
I've made some sarcastic comments in here, but it was never with malice for the contest. I'll say it again, I find it good that the people who contribute a lot here can speak up and call foul, because what other time can you think of that this happened? Of course, it didn't happen before, we all accepted other challenges that were given to us. But this particular case, I think it's acceptable.
Anddd, even after expressing my opinion and seeing that the twist wasn't changed, I will still go on and do my best to make my best effort (competitive).
Everybody is always allowed to say exactly what he thinks.
What goes about complaining about a decision -it is also allowed but don't expect a decision to change, because a decision is a decision. It needs to stay for credibility reasons. The change desired, must be suggested for the future. You can't say to Daniel that you are the boss, but I decide for you. That only means that you want the boss to be your slave. It can never work that way.
