Default Hey everyone, just picked up my HV20. Questions about quality

It's been pretty great so far, video quality looks great in the sun or with some decent indoor lighting. Very grainy without decent lighting. This is my first camera which I purchased for my digital video and audio class in which we use Final Cut Pro 7.

I want to be able to get the highest quality out of all of my videos, and since I'm so new to this scene I'd like to learn how to achieve this. I know this is a vague question, and Im sure the answer depends on different variables. But if you could get me started it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance ^_^

Hey, welcome to the forums. I'm still relatively new myself, so please someone correct me if I'm wrong, but it really depends on what you are intending to use it for. It seems that TV mode is a favorite for some while Cine Mode is a favorite for others. Regardless, if you are recording to create a film, and are intending to do color correction, I'd recommend putting your camera in Cine Mode. It films everything relatively flat so your raw footage won't look fantastic, but it allows for better color correction and editing in general. Besides that, just make sure your white balance is... balanced, and your exposure is correct. It does appear that the Hvx0 series seems to go a bit overboard with grain in low light situations.

Well, I assume you'll learn how to light scenes somewhen in your class. Or just look around here on the forum. There's plenty of info here.

    Have fun.
