    Default XF 100/105 forum?

Hi, this is my first post. I am currently awaiting XF100 (pro-order from B&H) and I am sure when it arrives I will have a ton of questions/issues with my new camera. I also predict this will be one of the most sold cameras on the market due to the features/codec/price point range. It would be nice to have a professional forum just for this camera.

Since price-wise it's pretty much replacing the XH lineup, I doubt it will get a separate section in most established forums...

XF series doesn't replace XH series at the moment. They are different cameras with different characteristics. They also work different in NLE's.

*palmface* I got the XF100/105 mixed up with the XF300/305! My bad!

Right, the XF100 is an in-between camera for the XF300 and the HF G10...

Looking at the previews XF100/105 will be equivalent of what DVX100 was 6 years ago- I think it should have it's own forum, as it will be THE CAMERA TO GET for the next few years.

So I shot some video on the XF305, copied all the files from the card to a folder on my MacPro, took the install CD, got the plug in successfully installed and brought video into FCP ProRes LT by setting the log and transfer preferences under "Canon XF Plugin" to ProRes LT.

Fast forward one month. Now I have XF100 footage and copied all the files from the card to a folder on my MacPro. This is all I get:

"CONTENTS" contains unsupported media or has an invalid directory structure. Please choose a folder whose directory structure matches supported media.

This happens when I pick the CONTENTS folder, the CLIPS001 folder or, for example, if I drill down to the actual clip folder, AA0086 which contains an SIF, MXF, CIF, another MXF, another SIF and an XMF file.

Is the FCP plugin different for the XF305 and XF100? That makes no sense. MPEG Streamclip won't do anything with the files.

I use FCP6.0.6 and I am able to import just by opening the content folder. However you have to choose the entire folder, not the particular clip folders. Most likely you did not copy the entire folder, so metadata is missing. It's the same plugin, as it is exactly the same codec. If I were you I would copy the folder back to the card, insert it into the camera and see if it asks you to recover the media? Then you can import from the card. Good luck.

I wonder if it is really true that you need at least 600x cards for "normal" - no over/under cranking - shooting.

not true at all. 400x Sandisks are working just fine.
