    Default Wes' Adventure into Lomography

    Hi all,
I recently decided to begin a new hobby, other than filmmaking, and I chose lomography. Lomography is essentially using analog film and taking pictures EVERYWHERE and usually just random snapshots. Find out more at this website. But anyways, using a cardboard pinhole camera I got in a kit from Barnes and Nobles (<3) I took some sweet photos. I have attached a picture of the camera and all of th photos for your viewing pleasure. Enjoy!

This is interesting, I've never seen someone actively turning into a hipster before. A single speed bike and an air of smugness is sure to follow.

Haha I didn't think I was becoming a hipster.......oh well. I will post more pictures soon. But those are definitely the best ones. Most were way Over saturated, and the developer at CVS didn't develop all of my prints. They didn't know I was going for blurry and weird colors. But it was still great fun. I am planning on getting the
    Diana F+ Camera soon.

Haha, penguin, that's the BEST posts ever on hv20!

BTW, he ALREADY is smug enough to use third person to refer to himself!

Also, Wes, that Diana camera will give you MUCH better results than the cardboard one.
I had something similar once....they're quite fun.

    Added: It was a Holga I had/have.

Ahh. Are you a lomographer Mal? And would you recommend the Holga over the Diana?

Either one, Wes. I only know Holga because that's all I've used and I like the simplicity. A friend had a Diana and she got some cool results.

Can't say the Russians don't understand marketing. Wes, that whole lomography thingie is already gazillions of years old - we simply called it "photography with the cheap crap cams we can afford".

... it's supposed to be an "artistic" choice, to boot!

Haha it is an artistic choice, I just thought it looked like an interesting hobby. KingDucky, it's not too hard to put together. And mal, I meant do you take fun creative photographs.

The art happened by accident due to vignetting and the lousy plastic lens.

However, there is a big difference if you work with a 135 negative or with a 120 in the darkroom. The 120 looks more organic than the smaller format. But you can say the same if you compare the 120 film to 4x5 or 5x7 or (drool) 8x10 formats.... If you are interested in a cheap way into "real" medium format, check the Seagull twin reflex cameras (Chinese Rolleiflex knock-offs, but not bad for their price). Then you can go to Rollei or Mamiya or Hasselblad.

I'm a bit miffed that I sold off my Mamiya RB and the darkroom. 'twas fun.

Mal those looked great! Those looked real nice. you should sell them. and cgbier, i actually dont want to use 12mm film, as it cant be developed by cvs or any local photo developing places, without an outrageous cost. I was really wanting like the 35mm back for the diana, or if they have the same type of thing for the holga.

Speaking of lomography, has anyone of you ever used one of these Russian clunkers:

    making negatives like this:

I have a webpage about this "panoramic rotating-lens camera", here:
