Default Antmans Short Film Festival - Best of 2010

    Hey guys;

Alrighty, time to kick this baby off! The basics of this is, we choose the best of all the films entered into the contest, and in true spirit... the public can choose their favorite video from the 5 on the short list.

    JUDGES:

HueyNRolf - Best Sound, Best Cinematography.
Azymth - Best Acting, Best Director.
    Bif - Short List Selection.

Huey, and Azmyth will share their choice... in the next few days, so be patient. In the meantime, go here and vote for the People's Choice Award!

Good luck everyone! One question though, how were the people's choice selections selected?

Alright guys, I know it'd be unfair to just go and pick mine for all the awards. This contest is a good cover to make it seem as if everybody had a chance against me. I like it!

    May the best win!

    Gotcha.

I'm with Drapes, Can't wait for the next contest to begin, but these awards should be cool.

then Azmyth is gunna pick which film had Best Actor? then best director?

Yes, there's four categories there. It'll take me a while to go through them all, please bear with me. I might give credit to the ones that come close.
The Korova milkbar sold milk-plus, milk plus vellocet or synthemesc or drencrom, which is what we were drinking. This would sharpen you up and make you ready for a bit of the old ultra-violence.

    Hi guys

thanks for all the work you are doing.

Do we hand out goodie bags to the judges or are they happy with just tickets to the game?

Should I leak some scandalous pictures of the director to the press or rather hide from the paparazzi?

Uh, surprisingly difficult to choose one from the four films. Found them all worth a vote about just as much. They all as well has something that bothers me. But practice makes everyone better.

    Hey Wal,

Would you mind (if you have time) telling us what bothers you about them? I always enjoy constructive feedback, and try and learn from it!

Because we're still waiting on final judging to finish on the best of, and I'm sure a lot of people are still dealing with their holidays.

He-he Vishus! You mean I with serious accuracy should point my finger on a couple of unquestionable flaws.

    Go ahead, Wal.
People value feedback on these threads.

I've spent a few hours going through the archive. It was fun to revisit 2010.

    Best sound

    The Watcher (John Lewis)

    http://vimeo.com/groups/63334/videos/15761478

An easy choice. The attention to detail is very nice, the score, foley, ambience and speech parts are all getting along well, nothing competes for attention. Lovely mix. Notice how those orchestral groans punctuate the action in the pictures. Plenty of detail in the foley and the score at almost sublime level. Crank up your speakers and enjoy!

I also liked 'They only come out when the lights go out (Randy Smith)' A nice clean job and good foley work.

The Somnium gets a mention too.

    Best Cinematography.

On The Trail Of The Enemy (Draps)

    http://vimeo.com/groups/63334/videos/10836196

This was a harder choice, but I think you'll agree it has a nice look. Good job, Draps.

I also considered 'Anniversary', despite having a nice cinematic feel, the talent's face looked a little underexposed.

And credit, yet again, can you guess?
That's right, 'The Somnium' That guy gets around.

Congrats Drapes and John Lewis (AJUK?)! Two exceptional entries I must say, it was nice going back and watching them again. Shout out to Huey too for taking the time to check out all the films again!

Sorry, I left a few names out.
    Indeed John Lewis is AJUK.
    Randy Smith is Vishus.
The Somnium is by Fade to Inferno (with all that attention he's been getting on The People's choice, I thought he didn't need a plug).
And Anniversary is by some dude called Nelson Ortiz, who the hell is he?
