Default Scene from a movie I'm working on

Just to prove I'm not the laziest member of this forum, I thought I'd post something I did.

I did the location sound and, just for kicks, I cobbled a soundtrack together for the first rough edit of this scene. The colors and exposure are all over the place as it stands, but they'll fix that. . . . it's up to them isn't it.

The Korova milkbar sold milk-plus, milk plus vellocet or synthemesc or drencrom, which is what we were drinking. This would sharpen you up and make you ready for a bit of the old ultra-violence.

Thanks for all the positive remarks.
It was shot on a very tricked out 7D and a T2i (i think).
It was a bit tricky because the dialog goes from normal talking level to shouting. Also that kitchen was cramped, so tracking was hard when the end of the boompole kept hitting walls. I set the -12db peak at the shouting part, to avoid clipping, but that makes the quiet parts a little noisy once normalized.

I've since had some differences with the producer/ director guy, so I guess I'm off the project. I'll still link it up when it's finished.

I hope you can work out the "differences" with the producer/director guy. Looks like an interesting project to stay with, like others I sure would like to see the finished episode.

The audio sounds OK to me, you're probably far more critical than most others would be. I'm listening through headphones and if there is any "noise floor" that normalizing brings in, the music covers it.

    Thanks for posting this.

Thanks Bruce. The noise isn't terrible, but the dialog could've been better for sure. Ah well, how many of us have said that after a shoot? Yeah, luckily I was able to fix it in the mix.

    You used Disoriented, you bastard

Loved it! Very haunting, especially the shot with the dad's empty look at the end. He's just gone.

LOL, how about that, Mark? Actually there's two ambient tracks mixed in there. First I put a spooky roomtone down, then I remembered that track I found for you, so I laid that down too to give me a choice. It turned out that the two mixed together sounded the best.

Turns out that by helping you out, I did myself a favor too. Thanks buddy!

Oh I might upload the rough edit before I mixed the soundtrack. Anyone want to hear it?

That kid will be damaged. Pretty intense stuff; I like seeing the dark side of people and situations.

I wouldn't mind hearing the rough edit.

That kid had been waiting for a few hours, by the time they got around to shooting him. As you can imagine, he'd had quite enough of it by then. The problem was getting to look scared and not bored.

The guy playing the father was one hell of a nice fella, he did accidentally clip the girl in one of the practices. I don't think he hurt her, but the poor guy felt terrible.

Anyhow, here's the rough edit. You should be able to hear what needed doing.

I liked that, nothin's easy for the under appreciated sound man. Directors spend oodles of time getting the visuals right but expect the sound man to be slam-bam-thank you, ma'am and it better be great. Personally, I don't see how a guy stands all day with a boom and doesn't feel like smacking someone with it by day's end, but that's just me.

I use GarageBand a lot, and like it, those samples sounded similar. Did you create those, find them or use an app?

    Good luck!

Interesting. Nice work on the sound. One thing, it might be just me but I hate when I see a shot of tea being poured into a cup, or any pouring of anything insignificant. I hate it I say!

Man, that crunch when she hits her head made me cringe!

Nice job cleaning up the audio from the rough edit.

Nice clip. What was your role as far as director/ writer/ dp is concerned?

Also, I have been thinking of moving out of the US and was looking at certain places in Asia. What is the expat scene like in Japan. Is it difficult to get work over there if you are not from Japan. I am not sure your situation, so I am sorry if I assumed you were a westerner.
