Thanks for releasing it, Bif!I couldn't find it when I tried...
I tried to watch the video, but as usual, my computer can't handle smooth playback of Vimeo or in You Tube above 240p.![]()
Ah no contest again, too bad. Even the one entry doesn't use the required object (santa's hat) unless I missed it?
Anyways, isn't the all winners finale of 2010 next?
The Korova milkbar sold milk-plus, milk plus vellocet or synthemesc or drencrom, which is what we were drinking. This would sharpen you up and make you ready for a bit of the old ultra-violence.
I always imagined something like: Best Short, Best Story, Best Cinematography, Sound, etc. All shorts would be included not just the winners (don't know if that would be too much).
Have to wait on Daniel since I don't think all judges put their critiques in yet, and what goes on from here.

Due to internet connectivity problems, Daniel has been unable to do anything on hv20.com. I have recieved email from him and will pass this on:
He says due to the season and folks being busy with holiday "stuff", he will leave things be for a few days. He hopes to have his internet problem solved by Jan 30th and will be announcing what follows soon.
So enjoy the New Year activities, have fun, and keep checking back here. I hope all had a very enjoyable Christmas, I did.

Hey guys, sorry for the silence and such... internet problems have been plaguing me and so I haven't been able to get it working. The joys of prepaid internet and unreliable ISPs.
Huey, I will be seriously considering your suggestion of the "Best of 2010". I will talk to Bif, grab a volunteer to jump in with us... and we shall organise something. The next contest will have to wait a week or two, so that we can get this "judging of 2010" thing going.
Once again guys, sorry for the sloppiness of this contest. There was only one entry anyway, and by the looks of it... only three people took noitce. New thread coming in a few minutes.
December 30th, mateyThat's when I get paid next and I can replenish my connection.
Daniel,
Welcome back, your new prime minister has promised a fiber network, might take a while, but the Australian people can look forward to the sort of connectivity I've enjoyed in Japan for many years. Here's to that.
The all winners contest was your idea, no? A good one since it doesn't rely on participation and you could run it concurrently with the next theme. Of course, it needs nutting out. Let me know if I can help?

Alright guys, I'm back. We're in the middle of organising a best of 2010... so stick around![]()
Thanks Bif for your nice comments again.
This contest should really be moved to a different site. HV20 is kind of... dead.
This short film contest should be moved to cinema5d. That site is amazing. Hv20 was good for it's time...
lol site ratings..
I love hv20.com for it's regular members, they're just cool, helpful people. I wouldn't "move on" to another forum just cuz of site ratings..
and we're low on entries because everyone is busy around christmas time. Once it hits mid January i'll be able to compete.
In any case it shouldn't stop you from creating a competition at cinema5d if you want to. Plus isn't it a DSLR forum? I mean if you look at all the subcatergories it's all specifically DSLR related. The footage section is even titled "Shot on a DSLR" dude I'm still rocking my hv30.

When someone "promotes" themselves as a "studio" (BenHughesStudios) as you do, at least namewise, I expect a bit more objective, mature, and professional attitude out of them. It's one thing to decide to start or support an effort (like these contest venues) on a different site but to attempt to "pull away" what's trying to happen here over to another site is not what I'd accept.
You can participate and give support at both or just one, whatever you want. The one time you started to participate here you seemed very willing to "push" the copyright thing until you provided enough info on what you wanted to do and it was determined that would be within the rules. But you never followed through.
What is happening on this site is simple math. Out of all the folks who view a "contest" forum only a VERY SMALL percentage ever actually start, finish, and submit an entry. On what may be the most active "motion picture" oriented website/forum typically 45-58 or so "sign up" when a contest in announced, and somewhere around 8 or so actually finish. So with not too many more than a dozen to twenty following this forum here the submission rate does not surprise me.
If you feel this forum is "dead"...Help bring it alive by participating in a positive way. I follow Cinema5D also (and dvinfo.net, camcorderuser.net) and each has it's benefits.

We all have our likes...Out of the four camera/video forums I'm involved in, this one is visited every day that I'm online. DVXuser was the last on besides this, and that was a week or more before Christmas! And I would have got an entry in, but my first attempt failed, and on my second attempt I ran out of time.
I'm staying here, and if the contest moves, I'd simply start another.![]()
Okay so what's going on? Time to get something going here
