Default Antman's Short Film Contest: 2010 Christmas Special

    Holy crap, it's December!

    That must mean... CHRISTMAS SPECIAL!

Yep guys, this is a special contest... slightly different rules, and a bigger time limit. Now, I know it's the Holiday season... It's Christmas and all. But, that shouldn't stop most of us from celebrating the spirit of Christmas by making a short film!

So, what's gonna be different about this Christmas Special? Simple. It's open genre, open plot... there is one theme though, it must have something to do with Christmas. Which can be anything really...

I'm thinking of ideas like: Ripping off, and making your own versions of "The Grinch" or "Bad Santa"... Hell, why not "A Christmas Carol"?
Or, be original... make something different.

We also have one item that must feature in the film... something simple... something Christmas-y... how about, a Santa hat?

    The Rules are as follows:

    1) The entry must be no longer than 7 minutes.
    2) It must not be overly violent, contain sex scenes... or anything you wouldn't want your grandmother to see. I.E: Make it AT LEAST PG-15.
    3) Entry must include SPECIAL ITEM as pointed out early in the post. If not, it will be disqualified.
    4) The entry must be made specifically for this contest, or else it will be disqualified. Your entry can be used in any other contests, but must abide by our rules to be considered here.

The DUE DATE for entries to be submitted is 26th December, 2010. UTC 10pm. Countdown To Deadline

    And, that's about it.

I expect to see more entries than the previous contests peoples!

    Have fun!

Hi Daniel, thanks for running this contest.

You asked in a previous thread if you did anything wrong: Nothing at all.
As for prices: Personally I am not at all motivated by prices... hold that thought... another microphone... hmmm.
You certainly giving us complainers about lack of time a challenge. No excuses this time.

I think he meant December 26th 2010. That's what the countdown clock shows.

Have you dropped the copywrite/ trademarks rule?
The Korova milkbar sold milk-plus, milk plus vellocet or synthemesc or drencrom, which is what we were drinking. This would sharpen you up and make you ready for a bit of the old ultra-violence.

Firstly, sorry for the date screw up. I hadn't been to bed when I posted (it was like... 6-7am) and obviously I typed what I was thinking.
I meant December 26th. Sorry guys. That'll be fixed in a moment.

The copyright rule has indeed been dropped here. But I suppose I should be specific.
The copyright stands only for music, and that usual "advertising" thing. I don't think anyone would care if you made your own version of the Grinch or anything like that.

Huey, are you going to be entering this... or are you still procrastinating?

There is so much Chrismas music floating around it would be very hard to avoid it. I could purchase the SmartSound Christmas Music Classics album and be safe but in the spirit of things I don't think anyone is going to be "grinch" enough to chase violations of that down in a "contest" venue like this.

Huey, you could show us what the Japanese are doing with the season over there. I know I'd sure enjoy seeing that. I'm serious.

Apart from the token commercialism, adopted from the west, the Japanese don't celebrate christmas. The 25th isn't even a holiday. Besides I'm loaded up with location sound work for the next few weeks.

The man can sit back and judge us on how we run it, but doesn't allow us the opportunity back.

Oh why didn't you say in the first place?
Right I'll cancel that job so that I can enter the contest.

If a man's loaded down with work he can't just "chuck it". I'll take him at his word, you and I have both been there at times. I haven't been able to shake free from obligated projects and family stuff to do one of these since the last dvinfo challenge.

I understand they don't celebrate Christmas, being Bhuddists, Shinto, and maybe some other things I don't remember. I just figured maybe some of them decorate some (Christmas lights on Torii, yeah right). I became friends with a Bhuddist priest on Taiwan and I think I remember him hanging a few lights in honor of his Christian minister friends.

Wow! I need to do some serious catching up! First, my apologies for missing the last contest. The weather turned nasty before I could get my outdoor footage done (rain), and then when I came up with a different idea, it snowed really heavy--not to mention the Santa Claus parades I had to photograph for our 4-H club! So I'm hampered with one and a half plus feet of snow, with four-foot plus drifts...
I'm really going to try and get something for this theme though, as I have a friend coming this Sunday who wants to act in one of my short films.
My skills are vast, rendering me capable of too many things.

    Hey Tim, utilize that snow!
