    Default R3D, 7D, and FCP

I've been asked to edit some behind the scenes footage of a short film shot on RED camera. Most of the bts stuff was shot on a 7d but they want scenes from the film to play in the bts as well, I fought against that idea and lost. Anything I should know before I set up a timeline and new project in FCP? I'm thinking of just exporting the few scenes they want from the film into 1920x1080 QT clips and editing those into the 7d footage.

I'm mostly unsure what to do, any tips hints or tricks would be appreciated.

    Cheers.

Seems like a good approach. You can download REDCINE for free and have a go at transcoding the .R3D files yourself (it supports most QT formats up to ProResHQ422 or better), but it might be preferable to have their post-production department generate the QuickTimes for you, with their cropping, re-framing and color correction already 'baked in.'

Thanks for the quick reply. Basically I'm filling in for their post-production while they're all off on other projects. I'll probably just stick with my plan of exporting the clips they want for that 'baked in' freshness.

    Cheers.
