D60 T2i/550D IS THE PRICE DIFFERENCE WORTH IT
Are the new lcd and other extras worth the price difference on the body price of these HDSLRs, not sure if i regret buying my 550D a month before news of the D60 came to light, there are always going to be new models coming out often just after you have bought the old model, this is not a T2i replacement i guess but a new model and the T2i/550s will be replaced by who knows the T3i/650D ?
If you can wait, never buy new releases right a way, I found it the hard way, the price drooped more than $100 two weeks after I bought my T1i. Now you have to measure what are the real benefits of a new model? and you already bought it, so look like you just one to feel bad about not waiting for something better... but gets used to it. like you said. there always something new coming out. what I have done, after a new release I put my current camera for sale and wait for a good buyer, and I will only spend $150-$250 on the new model.

For me, no. The 550D has all that I can ask for. Furthermore, the smaller and lighter the camera is, the happier I am.
But, the difference is "only" around $300 to 400 (in the US) - so, the choice depends solely on yourself.
I'd say the price difference is due to the more solid build and the native isos.
But, I'm sure happy with my T2i! Never regretted buying it for a second!
I haven't purchased a new camera since the 5D came out, and I've only just started doing videography professionally, but after considering all 4 options from Canon I decided on the 60D. I ruled out the 5D MII pretty quick simply due to cost, and while the 7D looks really nice and is built very well, some one else I have been working with has had all kinds of trouble with it over heating (not helped by the fact we live in Central Texas and shoot outside most of the time). That alone didn't completely turn me off of the 7D, but it made me hesitant. When I first started looking the 60D didn't exist, there were rumors but no solid info on it, so the only other option was the T2i, which I wasn't real thrilled about. Yes, image quality wise it is great, but lack of controls, top LCD, no weather sealing, too small / light of a body, etc, were not attractive to me.
So when the 60D was announced it to me was the perfect fit. Sure it isn't as well built as the 7D, but it still has some weather sealing and is a better built composite body compared to the T2i. So it isn't going to feel too light or small in my hands, but isn't as big and heavy as the 7D (not that I think the 7D is too heavy!), and should handle the elements better than the T2i (and when it's really bad, I have a rain cape). The flip out LCD I think is going to be very nice in many ways. I was shooting a few days ago using a GH1 and did a number of shots at ground level and over head that would have been difficult without the flip out LCD. Another benefit is if you mount the camera on a shoulder rig you won't need to use an offset mount, you can keep the camera on the rails in line with your shoulder and flip the LCD out so that it is in front of your eye. I also think the manual AGC is good to have as I do a some run and gun shooting so will need to record directly into the camera on occasion and having that little bit of extra control over the audio will be nice. And along those same lines there are many times when we don't use any lighting and have had to change white balance from one scene to the next, and dialing it in with kelvin temps is nice to be able to do. Operationally I am used to a camera with a top LCD, and front and rear control dials, only having a front dial would be annoying to me (the GH1 I used the other day only has 1, fortunately my aperture was set manually on the lens I was using).
So yes, as some one who was buying their first HDSLR (only other video camera is an HV30), who likes to have a little more control and is also working professionally, I think the extra features of the 60D are worth the price over the T2i. If the 60D didn't exist, I would have bought the 7D despite the over heating concerns and no manual AGC. For those who are just hobbyists, on an extremely tight budget, or who just need a backup or behind the scenes camera, the T2i would work fine.

I think it has been determined in other forums that if you have the T2i, it's not really worth the upgrade, but if you're starting out fresh and can afford it, it's well worth it's price.

Its more in the uk, i agree about the models but will always have doubts.It does does not have a more solid build does it like the 7D.
The build is in between the two. It's got a more "pro" feeling than the T2i, but less than the 7D. Same as it's got some weather-sealing, but not to the extent of the 7D.

I'd rather have a used 7d than a new 60d.
an used 7D will probably valued at 90% of its new price.
I've seen them go for much less than that from a variety of places including ebay, keh, and FM.
only had my 550D a few months so i am not changing again for some time.
To save starting a new thread whats the opinions on the http://www.amazon.co.uk/Tamron-10-24.../dp/B001GVINA6 i know the tokina 10-16mm is everyones favorite wide angle but i need a bit of extra zoom ,the Tamron is a 2.4x while the Tokina is 1.6x, so is the tamron a reasonable lens.
The canon EF-S 10-22 is over £260 sterling dearer and more than i can afford is it that much better.

Tags the problem, so you own a tamron EF-S 10-24mm,and dont think the fairly large extra cost of the canon is worth it.

Don't stare too blindly at resolution tests, unless you're going to shoot 18 megapix stills with a lens - for HD video, it doesn't really matter very much if the lens is slightly soft in the corners; they are cut off, and the HD resolution is only 2 megapix... This is a video forum, right?
You can compare two lenses at dpreview, go to the resolution test, and choose from the drop-down menu in the top right corner... they have tested both the 50mm f1.8 and the 18-55 kit lens.
