Default Looking for : Moon pictures

To anyone willing to help for free:
I'm looking for moon pictures, no matter the phase of the moon, in at least 1920*1080 resolution.
I've tried to capture some with my HV, but in low-light it's not the best. Here's what i've been able to capture, still not so bad, but i'm looking for better, clean and nice picture in a good resolution.
Probably DSLR users will get the best results, so if someone has some time to spend, any help will be appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Mark

Damnit! I saw a free stock footage clip with a nice close-up of the moon, but I didn't bookmark it and I have no idea which site it was on.
    I'll keep looking

You could try istock for cheap still photographs and video of the moon http://www.istockphoto.com/stock-vid...rey-clouds.php

Their prices are pretty cheap, so you should get hwat you need for only a few bucks

I'll see what my brother has. He used to do a lot of medium close up shots of the moon if those will work for you or did you want more wide shots like the one you attached?

You need still pictures or video?
I could try to go on the top of my building and do something with my Chinon 200mm and the 3x focal length adapter on the t2i.
Should give something like the attached picture (this one is blurred because it was shot handheld from my balcony).
If this is what you are looking for I only need to find the time to do something better after the children are asleep ...

Exactly something like this, and if you can do both, i'd be interested for them.

That's the best i've been able to capture using my HV. Closeup would be even better = more resolution and details.

Almost forgot to say thanks for all the replies guys!

Tonight it's almost full moon. I 'll try to do something. Unfortunately later in the dark.
Do you have a preference regarding frame rate? I intend PAL vs NTSC.

If you can NTSC would be great...23.976 would be even better. Thanks a lot Kostas!

Why don't you download a free-use still photo from Wikipedia or NASA, and edit it into your project? Color correct as necessary, you can superimpose on whatever you like in edit.

That's the simplest way, if you ask me...

I thought people could be pleased to do something easy like this and share it with other people!

    Drapeama

I'm rendering something I did over a year ago with the HF100 at full 12X zoom. Looks like pretty good detail. About 35 seconds from 2 clips, one with some wisps of light cloud moving over some of the moon, and another lower in the frame but with good detail.

Render is at 29.97 but if I can redo at 23.97 I will, then upload to vimeo, and send you a PM with link to it so you can download. You should be able to "cut" what you can use out of it.

It's up on vimeo, may still be converting. You have a PM with link and password.

You have permission and license to use it in anything you want, just don't pass the file around. Treat it just like "royalty free" stuff you purchase.

Let me know how it works. It's MP4 at 1920x1080 and 23.97 fps...Good luck.

I have shot some stills (attached) and video.
This was also a fine opportunity to check the crop feature in video mode of the 550d/t2i.
If you are still interested in the footage let me know.
If you already have what you need, I will upload it some day anyway, but at the moment I am overwhelmed by other things.
    Cheers.

pm'd you the link and password to download the footage.
Consider this as you have considered Bif's file: for personal use.
    Hope this works.

@ Almohada: I will first try to sell it to National Geographic

    Kostas,

Actually I gave him full usage permission, just asked him not to distribute the "raw" footage. The same rights you get when you purchase "royalty free" music and clips.

He can even use it in anything he goes commercial with.

That's what I intended too by "personal use". Not to distribute the raw footage.
But free to use it even for a commercial purpose.
