Was bored so I put together a small small thing. I really need to get the hang of color correcting though, it's not as easy as I thought it would be even though I'm sort of getting the hang of it.

    Was filmed with the XH-A1.
Wanted to get some cinematic shots. Think I did.... somewhat. Was a bit difficult since the ground was way to hot and uneven for my tripod.

Need some help/advice/insight on something, people.

Now that I have my HV40 back, I've been using my Beachtek DXA 4s again with it. And when I plug in my Sony ECM 674 mic, the audio sounds fine - except there is a slight hiss that is ever present throughout the footage. It's like a slight whispery hiss that I canNOT get rid of. I've adjusted the Beachtek to where all the audio is muted, but I still hear the slight hiss.

Is this because I'm running this into a camcorder that is recording onto tape? Does it sound like a Beachtek problem?

    Need some more advice, people.

I noticed when handling my HV40 I can hear something inside it moving around - only when it's turned off though. Also, when I look inside it and take a gander, the metal parts that I've circled in the picture below are noticeably wobbly. I gently prodded them both with a cue tip, and they're very wobbly. Is this normal with every HV40 or should I get this looked at?

PS. The camera itself is working just fine. I'm just worried perhaps one day one of these wobbly parts might fall off or something.

Would like some feedback on my above post, if there is any.

Tried out Neat Video's plugin for Vegas some more, and I'm really intrigued to do more tests. I feel it does a pretty decent job! Had my friend
pop off some rounds in the dark with a single light source behind him. I was using the exposure lock trick. Pretty tricky at times to get the
right exp set, but it's no big deal.

First clips are without, second half is WITH Neat Video.

I thought the first clips already looked good, couldn't tell much of a difference.

Agreed. It's very, especially when watching it on Youtube. The actual file itself shows a lot more contrast between the two. I really love this plugin.

    PS. Thanks for the comment.

Took the HV40 into the depths... the deep dark depths of the Mississippi Delta. There's a club called Rumors, and it was packed with pure blooded Delta natives. This is where ghettos come from lol. I think the footage I shot last night only accentuates why I love this camera so much and why I prefer it over DSLRs. After touching it up with some color grading in Vegas and sucking out some of the grain using NeatVideo, I really believe movies could be made with the HV40. Even in pitch black and using the "exposure lock trick", the quality is beautiful.

My most proudest test to date, IMO.

I recently obtained a Sennheiser ew 100 G2 kit with a lavalier mic, transmitter, and a receiver. It's basically this... (HERE)

In the next few months I will be filming my first short film, and I was planning on investing heavily on audio... so getting this kit for nothing at all was a true blessing. Thing is, I have no idea how to use it yet. And I have some questions about it.

    1. Will the EW100 G2 transmitter work with only G2 wireless receivers? Or is it compatible with any Sennheiser receiver? I really don't want to have a receiver that needs to be plugged into an outlet. So I'm looking for a wireless Sennheiser receiver that will work with the lavalier, one that could be easily mounted to my camera. Any ideas?

    2. If I was to use the receiver I have now, I'd need to plug it into a wall somewhere obviously. So the camera connects to the back side of the receiver and then it will pick up the audio. Right?

    Sorry for the newbish questions.

When I saw that Parker had taken up my offer to make a video response to my review of his trailer, I knew I wanted to record my reaction. So that's what I did. Here is his response to my advice as well as my reaction.

This ungrateful little prick is the best hing to happen to HV20... ever.

    Watching it now...

EDIT (8 minutes 49 seconds later): You're just trying to help, I don't get why he's so angry.

I really would like to hear those interviews and podcasts. Mark, maybe you are wrong. I guess we'll have to wait and see what Derrick Ferguson says.

I dunno, I figured Parker would go into hibernation again or his thread would be closed again like before. Plus, this is my own thread.

I like how my reaction video has better quality and lighting than his feature length film, and we both use the HV40. Every time he mentions how his movie's going to be seen at festivals I couldn't help but crack a smile. He's so delusional it's almost frightening.

If I ever make a reaction video to his, I'm going to write a script, cast it, shoot it on HV20 -- not 40 -- with a budget, catering, blah blah blah.

"I can't seem to remember to turn the AC off, sometimes. When I do turn it off, I do remember to do that from time to time, the sound is awesome, it sounds great!"
The Korova milkbar sold milk-plus, milk plus vellocet or synthemesc or drencrom, which is what we were drinking. This would sharpen you up and make you ready for a bit of the old ultra-violence.

One of my cast members called me about a week and a half ago, saying if I do him a favor then I won't have to pay him for acting in TIMER. I said - alrighty. He wanted me to film some footage for his friend, a local rapper that was looking for a cameraman. So I arrive on a Friday night, without any prior notice, and it's just a cluster of these idiots. Rappers, DJs, dancers, what have you. Not only that, but it's in the goddamn dark! These guys figured that a music video would be perfect in this spot even though it's only got one light to illuminate anything. Had to improvise by strapping several LED lights to my halo rig.

I show up and this guy asks "So what choo wanna do?"
I replied, "I don't know, this is your video, bud. Whatever you want."

Just an unorganized mess. But I gotta give these people something: they LOVE being on camera. I had them play their song about 4-5 times, and the guy even decided to pay me for the job. So not only do I not have to pay one of the cast members, but I managed to make some nice cash ahead.

    Filmed on the HV40.

I kept thinking to myself: "It's for a good cause. It's for a good cause."
