Thread: Canon digital REbel T1i

  1. #1

    Default Canon digital REbel T1i

Anyone recommend using this to shoot HD video?
If so, what type of lens shoot I invest in to use it?
I don't need audio to record with it, just video.

    Thanks guys!

The T1i? It's not really a bad camera but shoots at 20fps @ 1080p so it's not really conforming to any standard of 24 or 30fps. If you're only shooting 720p it'd work fine since it shoots at 30fps for that. If you're wanting better quality you might want to look into the T2i it will have more useable frame rates as well.

    Go for the T2i.

The T1i is cheaper, but the T2i is waaaaayyyyyy better! T2i would be the much better choice!

    No.

I had one, bought it several months after it came out thinking Canon was not going to come out with a better video capable camera in that price range for quite a while. It is too limited with full HD at a 20fps rate no one uses, and only other real option 720p at 30fps. And no manual control.

Then here came the 7D at a price I was unwilling to pay at first. Then I did.

Then here comes the T2i at the same price level the T1i hit the market at.

I "dumped" the T1i and replaced it with a T2i.

Serious or semi-serious HD video is going to be too limited with the T1i when the T2i offers real control with manual setting of aperture, shutter, and ISO and the price diff between the two is not that much.

I do NOT recommend the T1i for HD video.
