    Default Canon fx305 and fx300

What's up guys, what do you guys think of the Canon fx305 & fx300, they look awesome. I read that they will have interchangeable lens, a 4 inch LCD monitor and they're going with compact flash. But it looks like the price will be around 8,000.00 for one of these babies. I believe its a little on the expensive side but what do you guys think.

I went on vimeo and they have a couple of videos shot with one of these cameras.

No interchangable lenses. You get an L series lens plus a wideangle attachment. 50mbs 1080p onto CF, 3 hrs a card. With interchangeable lenses, I would have bought it in a heartbeat. Still thinking about it..

These two cameras are the closest thing to compete with the Sony EX1. All three are great cameras. All three records True HD, full raster 1920x1080.

The canons are XH-A1's that have been modernized with an increase in resolution by 25%, an increase in color data by 50% and solid state recording.

The two canons can record in 4.2.2 color at 50Mbps. The EX1 is limited to 4.2.0 color and 35Mbps, unless you use a Nanoflash. The Nanoflash is a $2,800 accessory, but can record 4.2.2 at up to 280 Mbps. (Generally higher bit rates mean less artifacts.)

The EX1 has three 1/2" CMOS sensors, while the Canons have three 1/3" sensors, so the EX1 has a slight edge in DOF. However, the Canons have a little more zoom, so if you have enough room you can back up and even that out.

[btw, xf not fx] I haven't tested the xf's yet, but the footage I've seen so far looks good. (The A1's they are based on were ahead of their time.)

I phrased it wrong regarding the color data. The A1 and EX1/3 have 50% of the color data of an xf300/305. Or said another way, the XF300/305 has 200% of the color data of an A1 or EX1/3.
