Thanks Mal....., thanks for all the hard work.

Is anyone having problems loading pages and posting? The forum has good and bad days, but it's as flakey as hell for me.
The Korova milkbar sold milk-plus, milk plus vellocet or synthemesc or drencrom, which is what we were drinking. This would sharpen you up and make you ready for a bit of the old ultra-violence.
Yeah... sometimes it's not loading properly after I reply to a post. Some pages are slow.

Wouldn't you know it?
As soon as I post that, it seems OK again.

It's working back!
Edit: Pictures in attachments (uploaded to the hv20 server) doesn't work. Check in the merchandising forum section.
All in all, glad everything is back from the inferno!
Big trouble with server.
Apparently their RAID controller went kapooey.
I could only save the site by uploading a new version of vbulletin.
Some plugins are still missing...
Sorry 'bout the hiccup folks...
"Hello,
Due to issues with the RAID controller on the VPS host server 'homie-vserver192', which hosts your VPS machine, we have moved the server on to new hardware and are restoring all data from our backup server to the new hardware. During this process, the data on the backup server will be mounted directly over NFS to allow all services to remain online for the duration of the restoration.
We apologize for the inconvenience caused by this unplanned outage. We will keep the announcement which appears in your Web Panel updated with as much detail as we can provide. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us back under Support > Contact Support, in your panel.
Please note, this is regarding the VPS host server 'homie-vserver192' and no other services (email, MySQL) or servers are affected.
Thank you for your patience!
The Happy DreamHost Server Fixing Team"
And yes, I think we lost a ton of attachments....about 600MB worth....

I still have problems with "attachement####" in the threads: I've removed all the uploaded pictures but the attachement link is still visible, even if it doesn't work (referring to a deleted file).
I've been able to update the Mattbox thread, but on the DSLR gears I haven't been able to get the pictures to work other than using my picasaweb pictures and link them to the thread...
Man, two days of cold turkey.
Say Mal, it wasn't the first time that Dreamhost had an issue. I was actually thinking of letting them hosting my website when Apple closes shop in June. Seems I better rethink that position.

Hmmm... never had a problem with Dreamhost since starting with them in 2004. Hosting several sites for myself and many clients there.
Was more than a little concerned that this forum would have to start from scratch (shudder) as a couple of other forums I'm active on had to do so in the past - they were not hosted with Dreamhost, however.
All I can say is Whew!

There are no fool proof hosting sites or servers. However, things like these can be prevented. A failing RAID controller should not be an excuse. I'd have gotten my walking papers when I had to tell my boss "uhm, we have to close shop for two days, because we had a RAID controller go down".

Just a FWIW:
DREAMHOST's shared hosting is pretty reliable. Maybe that's what you have?
We were on shared hosting, until 2008 when they said we were using too much of their server's load, so we moved to a VPS (Virtual Private Server).
It's the dedicated and VPS/VDS servers Dreamhost had a lot of trouble with this year. They are trying to rectify it mind you.
Unfortunately, I have a really crappy internet, so I can't download/backup the site as much as I'd like.
What I do know, is that the database went from 1.4GB to 800MB for some reason.
I will look into that later on.....right now, I'm just glad we're back online!!!![]()

Also, I'm happy to report my health has also miraculously returned, and having avoided surgery(s), am back behind a camera and NLE carrying on as planned! (Phew) Praise God!
Hope to be around here more often, maybe even enter the summer film contest if time permits ;D
