    All my hv-30 footage seems to called "AVCHD" in windows 7???

    Don't worry. That is normal. For some reason Windows 7 thinks HDV video is AVCHD. No big deal though as HDV files are fully playable in Windows Media Player.

    M2T is a "mpeg transport stream"

    M2TS (which is what avhcd is housed in) is also a "mpeg transport stream"
