Unhappy Electromagnetic radiation from an air filter fried by hv30?

I had a room air filter running beneath the tripod my hv30 was on. I went out for a walk and came back about 20 minutes later. When I got back the display on the hv30 was random green squares and lines. I turned it off, reset the power and everything. It came back with the same green lines.

I let it sit for a while and then it wouldn't fully power up. It would open the lens cover but it wouldn't make the DING sound and the display stays black. One time it did turn on and was OK for a few seconds before returning to green lines, then a blank screen and then it wouldn't fully boot up.

    Help!!!!!!!!! What do I do????????

I did that, I held the tiny reset button behind the battery down with a pin tip for 15 seconds but it doesn't do anything.

Actually now it seems to be getting worse. It doesn't always open the shutter when you turn it on. Sometimes it does nothing at all.

What's the best place to get something like this repaired?

Canon's repair service. You'll find the address on their Website.

    Thanks for your help cgbier.

On canon repair, the canon site says:

canon repair estimate: $231.00 (plus any applicable tax)

Since the site doesn't know what the problem with the camera is, how accurate is that likely to be? Once they get the camera what's the likelihood the actual repair charge will be a lot more than that?

That's their standard price for consumer cam repairs.
