How things are going guys?
Well, it's been a whole week without any activity or signs of interests in both previous rounds. I've closed threads #36 & #37 for now. When interest will come back...we'll see.
I've let Vishus' Special Halloween round opened, hoping there will be more entries than last year...
Antman's Film Contest will take a break for a couple weeks.
What a bummer! I know I'm not helping the cause since I haven't submitted in forever, but it's too bad the entries have dried up! I have ideas every round, but life gets in the way of life!

If you want to, yes. I'll move the post to the thread and maybe reopen it.
It's just like there's at least 2 contest running and one waiting for conclusion and there's no activity nowhere...kind of. I'd say, let's finish this year with the #37 and Halloween ones, and if there's not much activity, let's temporarily close the contest upon more interest.
It is a pity there are so few entries lately. Insomnia for instance is a great theme.
Let's do some brainstorming and find out what we can do different.
Speaking for myself: I am not interested in prizes. Feedback is more valuable. Bragging rights are nice too. After all we are all "Published Filmmakers" now
Is it important to win? It's nice but as we all have vastly different levels of experience winning has limited appeal.
To create a short is a lot of effort, so following a theme and rules of a small competition is not enough motivation.
Everything I have done here was pushing a personal envelope. First script, first acting, first directing, first time working with other people and then putting it on the Internet for all to see and criticize. These are all things that would have given me serious diarrhea only a few Years ago.
So the next thing I am going to do will again have to have meaning to me.
Here is an idea:
Anyone can start any project anytime.
It can be an invitation to do a short like Vishus does with his Halloween theme.
It can be a request for others to participate.
It can just be showing what you are working on.
It can be a personal or commercial project.
It can be anything anyone wants it to be.
If there is no interest it will simply disappear in the timeline of hv20.com. No harm done.
Then why not just the footage section?
We want something a bit more than that. More community involvement.
One thread, one project.
Give it a number like we did up to now. Or maybe just a title is enough?
The thread starter sets the rules, if any.
The only fixed rules would be those of hv20.com and the hosting site.
We would need a new heading as it would no longer necessarily be a contest.

I will certainly do something again.
Its a matter of having the time to put something together.
Prize is no big deal. Getting feedback is valuable and being in the situation of doing something in the same timeframe as others, and seeing their interpretation of a 'theme' is motivating.
If I work on something that does not fit a competition cycle or theme (like I'm working on a music vid at the moment), I'll just put it in the footage section for any feedback.

To add to previous comments: Many years ago I used to stand at street corners arguing with friends over where to go for lunch. We could never agree and there was always someone objecting to all suggestions.
Now I say: I am going for lunch to this place and if anyone wants to join they are welcome. This means I often eat lunch by myself, but I no longer have to stand in the cold wind arguing.
So I think charley_tango, you are off to a good start.

I think with the experience I got from my last project, we should be able to get some nice shots and I hope, some great production value.
So… Are we doing a holiday themed contest? Any interest there? Or are we all just feeling burnt out by these and we're done?

If you want to start one, feel free to. But I think we should re-think about the concept and maybe "adapt" it to something fresh, more up-to-date. Check out previous posts Randy and feel free to bring new ideas!
