Head on over to the thread!
Hi there!
Since the deadline for the current contest is nearly here, I was wondering if somebody got any ideas for the next one?
I couldn't help noticing that none of the previous contest had any relations to sports, so how about that?![]()
I can't believe I didn't think this through... We have a sh*tload of snow too. So sports theme would probably be better for the contest #34?
Ok after a discussion we agreed to a very unique challenge. We'd like the next contest theme to be "Finish the story". Because there are not many participants in the last few themes, we'd like to someone else to write a short (3-5 sentences) story that gives everyone a wide range of possible outcomes to film.
We believe this is a very fun and unique theme. We hope you enjoy it.
If anyone has trouble coming up with an idea this is a few of our ideas:
"While watching a movie on the computer/TV you fall asleep. When you open your eyes again, nothing is the same".
"You read an article in the newspaper. It is so shocking that you rush out towards what you read" (You may film whatever you like in the article)

We hope a lot of people will want to pitch in with ideas, Thank you.

1) It sounds very interesting and there's a lot of potential from the various "options" proposed!
2) I hope too!
I've updated the Wall of Fame thread as well as the Official Prizes List.
Hey guys, I'd like to know if you think that our actual banner for the contest (below) is still good enough, or if it would be time to change it or rearrange it somehow?
I still have the grabs to redo another version, but with newer contests it would be good to update it maybe?
Let's discuss about it and see what most of us think about it.
Maybe doing a round that is more like a festival. Will take place when ten films are ready. First you load up a trailer. When ten trailers are up -go. No time pressure, but a good theme.
It wouldn't hurt to give it a go. Perhaps a festival approach would be an interesting change.
Let's say we'll prepare something and we'll start it officially on May 1st. Then I'd suggest May/June/July to make something and due date would be August 1st.
If we don't have 10 entries by then, we'll check for other possibilities.
Now guys, it gives you untill May 1st to throw some theme ideas to start this "Antman's Film Contest - Summer Festival".
Day and Night.

So we're set on the Festival idea?
Set for May 1st to August 1st (unless we start a little later)
And what about "Contrast" at any level? = Could be Black & White, Good & Bad, Rich & Poor, Handsome & Ugly...just at any level. Would show some creativity and we could elaborate our judgment template according to the criterias.
What do you think?
A couple of thoughts in general around the festival idea.
What makes a festival to a fest? That's what we want to see here as well. A buzz before it all happens.
Trailers and some intriguing news about the coming films. A poster? Maybe use the time to learn a new skill and use that in the film. Tell about that in advance so people will have expectations.
Should it be obligatory to learn a new skill, just for the sake of that people will want to see how it looks in the film?
Interesting question!
I like the trailers ideas, but it would require more job. I would opt for a rough concept poster or at best, a 30sec teaser rather than a trailer. Just something to illustrate what's the short is about, while not giving it away.
All right!
Contrast it will be!
New contest has officially been started.
Please refer to the Official Contest Judges to know who will review the entries. Let us know if you want to get in.
Please refer to the Official Prizes Thread for the available prizes to win for this special round.
Please make sure you read the rules carefully as there has been some changes for this special round.
Have fun! I hope there will be more entries for this round with the prizes and extended deadline.
Edit: I have also updated the FILM ARCHIVE thread (I will add all the all the participants' videos in dedicated posts for each rounds) as well as added the Statistics thread to keep a record. I will update the excel sheet every round.
Just another crazy thought:
Would this be something for this round or another? To get up the spirit.
The winner is the one who creates the best hype. I mean mostly through the teaser. The movie then should be as big of a disappointment as possible...
