Well, QuickTime is probably best; H264 makes smaller files sizes, but really Sorenson 3 is more widely available.

Other options would be WMV, probably not quite as universal as Quicktime though.

I have some small m2t files that I would like to post of HD and 24p-Cine mode captures...Therefore, if bandwidth is sufficent for hosting.....then I say count me in :-)

Step-by-step instruction for free movie & picture hosting on HV20.info:

- you can ftp to hv20.info; the folder will automatically be chosen for you, just use "hv20.info" (without quotation marks) as the location
- use "anonymous" as login and password; without quotation marks of course
- max file size is 250MB per file
- NO COPYRIGHTED MUSIC PLEASE; do NOT use copyrighted music for your clip; it's not allowed unless you have permission by the author & the label
- please only upload HV20 related material; I'll keep an eye out for unrelated items and remove them
- let me know it there's a problem
- use a free ftp program to upload, such as FileZilla on the PC: http://www.download.com/FileZilla/30...ml?tag=lst-3-7
- you need to link to your file like this: http://hv20.info/yopu/yourfilename.extention (example: http://hv20.info/yopu/hello.gif )

I hate to split hairs, because while I prefer QuickTime, Windows Media Player (with WMV support) is standard in an install of Windows, and Windows is on, like, 90% of the world's desktop (not server) computers. So, I think, technically... WMV is actually the more "universal" option.

I finally got some spare time to make some test shots with my 4 day old HV20.
It's all "Auto", and hand held. I use Pinnacle 11+, but couldn't fine any other way to make a full HD (1920x1080) than render it as a WMA-file (Windows Media). "Manual_D" says that 100 mB of "raw footage" will be around 28 secs. This file is 30 mB and 48 secs...
I don't know how to export/render true raw footage..I'm even not sure what that is...sorry, i have tons to learn...(which I have known all the time...), but that is the really fun part of this hobby. That, and all the DIY-possibilities! This movie is a WMA 1080/50i, 1920x1080, 5 mbit/s, 25 FPS. Audio: WMA, 16 bit Stereo, 48 kHz). Will any of this cause problems for the NTSC-community? I understand that there are a difference in the height of a "normal TV" video; PAL has 576 pixels(?) height, and NTSC is 480. But full HD is 1920x1080 for both PAL and NTSC?
Hmm..there are so much I don't understand in this field..
P.s. I don't have limited space (I pay 1.50 USD per month for 1 gB). Just wanted to test this offer. If the video is of little interest, and you need the space for other films, just delete it.

Just out of curiosity, but what exactly is "Sorenson 3" ?? I am guessing its some sort of codec/encoding format by reading an article in Wikipedia - but according to the same article - it is no longer in use - as both quicktime and flash video use a different set of 'codecs' ??

Even though I might sound a little ignorant - isn't it better to have flash as the video - becasue alot more people can play it alot easier - for example how Vimeo and Youtube makes their videos. (also the inclusion of h.264 for flash by Adobe - makes the video alot better, no longer pixelated the video is very smooth - atleast in the tests that I have seen -> any comments on that?? )

With new computers I might agree with you; but not everyone has a Windows XP or VISTA machine running the latest software.
There's plenty of people with old computers, with old codecs, and with crappy internet service out there.

Believe it or not, there's a good percentage still have a screen resolution of 800x600 for instance.

I tried to make a directory in the server (with my name as you suggested in the sticky) but it didn't seem to let me. Instead I put my user name first in the file name. Is that ok?

You won't be able to make a new directory/folder.

It all goes into the same one.
