If you restrict the claim to editing, you may be right - Macs may have the biggest number of seats.

as a whole process for film-making, from production to producer, windows would be the most prolific choice. as with most companies, most computers are windows based workstations for email clients, word processing, accounting and other business tasks. there are no enterprise level mac solutions for running a business and handling the finance side.
editing, it's a toss up. a lot of big houses use both mac and pc and a good mix of linux. If you look at the shared storage side in relation to avid, they deal with a lot of big guns using windows and linux, with a mix of mac.

i don't know what hollywood has to do with it, i wouldn't base my argument on whats popular in hollywood. remember, they made the prius popular. if you base your choice on hollywood or what you think hollywood uses, your just being trendy.

use what you like and what works for you.

unless you plan on being an editor in hollywood, then learn how to edit on multi-platforms and become good at what you do.

the only machine i ever had to get fixed was a mac. the inverter went out in the screen and they had to replace the whole top section.

shortly after, i got rid of that machine.

    a computer is a computer.

One big factor is render farms - hundreds and hundreds of (usually) Linux boxes in a row, even in small to medium sized post houses. Often they can outnumber the workstations by tenfold or more.

    i prefer macs
i think you should get one so you don't need to learn a new program
you can get after effects and premiere for mac to
also macs tend to last longer

Nuge113, are you really serious about this forum? Just wondering, as some of your posts are a little "off" in their information...??

I don't need no sticking accelerator card. FCP3 after effects, adobe CS4 suite all works great.

In all fairness adobe suite is in line with FCS. FCS may even be a better deal, with all the apps it comes with for 1k. Vs just premeire or AE for 1k from adobe.
Nice capture on your desktop ... where'd you take that?

Browse around here long enough and you'll learn. Just take all information with a grain of salt...

Mac or PC? Which ever one you prefer using. They each have their benefits. Macs are generally more stable, but PCs are cheaper and have better hardware options.

It's end to end integration (mac) vs fragmented product design (pc).
The Korova milkbar sold milk-plus, milk plus vellocet or synthemesc or drencrom, which is what we were drinking. This would sharpen you up and make you ready for a bit of the old ultra-violence.

It's not "fragmented" product design. It's modular.

Right and when Janet Jackson's tit popped out at the superbowl, it was a 'wardrobe malfunction.'

Call it anything you like, but it is what it is.

There's no need to get defensive.

Well your gross hatred for PCs is disturbingly obsessive, and I want to know WHY you hate them so much. Them molesting you would certainly explain it.

    Plus it amused me.

    He doesn't that much:

    Show me where?
I merely pointed out the fundamental difference between the two approaches, which is a fact. It was YOU who decided to modify my words with a euphemism and get defensive.

    BTW, I don't hate PCs.
