Default Local car commercial shot with HV30

It was a no-budget shoot for Gilroy Chevrolet in Gilroy, CA. Nothing fancy about the setup outside of two 500-watt work lights. I did have an Olympus WCON-08 wide angle lens on my camera at the time, which was completely unnecessary. Given that I've also never made a commercial before, I think it turned out alright. I guess I should mention that I shot it in 24p and white balanced the shot so that the talent didn't look as orange as she did in real life.

im not one to judge at this point considering my lack of experience, looks good to me... however - the reverb in the room is crazy. but, otherwise it was nice.

im watching the bloopers now- seems like it was actually pretty fun!

that lady kinda sounds like rachel ray... just an observation.

No worries. I'm new to most of this stuff myself, but thanks for the input! With regard to the echo in the room, that's one of the things I was afraid of the most when I went on site for the first time. The dealership had high ceilings and tile, so I figured I'd try getting sound from a lavalier during moving shots, and a boom mic for static shots. I was surprised to get similar results. I figured the lav would pick up less of the echo, but that wasn't the case. The audio for the 30 second spot was also a nightmare to edit because of the audio from two different mics and the fact that the director/dealership GM goofed on the prices on the script. At any rate, I've been told that they're hearing good things from people who've seen it on TV.

    Is your lav a condenser?
The Korova milkbar sold milk-plus, milk plus vellocet or synthemesc or drencrom, which is what we were drinking. This would sharpen you up and make you ready for a bit of the old ultra-violence.

Not sure to be honest. If I wasn't away from home I would've been happy to look it up for you. I don't even know the brand and model of it since the mic was just something I've kept from a production company I worked with. What I can tell you is that it was battery powered.

Just shot this last Friday with the HV30 in SD. I figured since it was a web video for their website, I didn't want to go through the usual hassle I have with HD video. I used the same mic (from Radioshack apparently) and just placed it higher up on the collar of the interview subject to minimize echo. Oh, and that's me on the intro and outro!

I C - The cute kid was what the GM was banking on, and they were definitely fun to work with.

johndatserakis - The web clip was in fact shot with two cameras. The medium shots were with an HV 30 and the tight shots were with whatever it was the boss lady had in her purse. I'm pretty sure it was a Canon, but I have no idea what model. It's actually part of the reason I decided to shoot in SD.

Anyway, glad you guys are enjoying it.

EDIT: I just realized that the dialogue audio in the web video was only coming through the left channel (I muted the wrong audio track before exporting) so I reuploaded it.

Not bad video but sound is crappy and the music is too loud and the wrong one. Ya need DRUMZ and BEETZ for cars. Look at other car commercials/
