Default Circuit City has HV20 for $719 before tax after 10% instore coupon

TODAY ONLY - must do in-store pickup to get coupon. But I'm sure that there'll be more specials like this as the holiday season progresses...

    Default Thank you Little-Big Sound

I only just found this forum, but was being superstitious about registering before actually owning an HV-20. I saw your post about the CC price, asked my gal if she wanted to get a great price on my Christmas present, and while I won't see it for another month and a half, it's enough to join this forum. This way when I open the box I'll be way ahead of the learning curve.
Thanks for the very useful information.

    Thanks for posting this!!

I printed out the Circuit City price of $719.09, and went to Sears for a price match. They not only price match, but they give 10% of the difference back so I purchased the camera for $701. The kicker is that the mall where the Sears is had a deal where you get $20 for every $200 that you spend on your discover card. So after paying $701, we then received a gift card for $60 from Discover card which can be used anywhere that accepts Discover.

So all in all, we got the camera for a grand total of $641!!!!

you can thank the very low consumer confidence in market for the incredibly low prices. Retailers are trying to make it a happy holiday.

Today it's back up to $950. Hopefully it'll drop again next month when I have a few bucks to get one.

Particularly when I'm away from the house all day, and get back only to find out the "great offer" I had yet to hear about expired a few hours previously.

And, besides, what's with offering a "one-day-only" sale on the Saturday of a three-day (i.e. major shopping on Monday) weekend?

Does BB still price match CC when the local CC doesn't have any HV20's in stock? I always wondered about that. Maybe I'll just wait till CC has it on sale again for $799 and then use my 10% coupon and have it shipped. (assuming it drops back down there before the end of the year!)

The one thing I'm wondering about in terms of prices -- while one might expect the trend to go down, one inconvenient problem is that the U.S. dollar is currently in a downslide compared to foreign currencies such as the Yen, which would make Japanese products like the HV20 more expensive to dealers. It might be that you'll see U.S. prices going up, not down, for the immediate future.

    Default AHHHH Man, However....789.00 @

Wow that deal at Sears was awesome. Now I know how to do it. I can't beleive I missed the deal at CC. I was on here Friday but when I looked on Saturday it was after store hours. I was so mad. Keep posting guys/ gals so those of us who don't have one yet can find a great deal.

Amazon has it for 789.00 I saw today. Still debating whether to order or hold out.

there are some good 'price watch' websites out there, however i'm not sure if they're good enough to catch deals like this... anyone have a good source, perhaps w/ email alerts?

    It will drop again.

Get it if you need it and then get a price adjustment.

This is a real downer. I just purchased a HV20 late Friday night (Nov. 9) at Best Buy. What do you guys think I can do, if anything?

They have a 14 day price guarantee policy on camcorders:

Well right now Circuit City has it for $850 on their website. I imagine when you go to Best Buy, they will either call CC or go to their website to confirm. I don't know if they accept printouts from their website or not.

I was able to grab it from Best Buy for $850. I caught it on a sale, but I'm not sure if Best Buy will honor the Circuit City price due to it being $720 for only a day.

First of all I just stumbled onto this site today and I think it is great.
I realize that the Circuit City $719 is over now, but how do I find out about it if it happens again... was it posted on their website??? If not, where can I keep a look out for it??? I have recently decided to upgrade my Canon ZR30mc for a HD model, especially with the birth of our first child. After much research and hair pulling, I have decided to go with the HV20. I like a GREAT deal just like the next guy, but as much as I hate to deal with CC or BB, I do like the "comfort" of being able to take the camera back to a "real person" and not shipping it off, crossing my fingers and hoping for the best. This CC deal seams to be the best of both worlds for me.
