Schweet. Although I think this slick little number is going to come with a fairly hefty price-tag attached - I would estimate somewhere in the $20 - 30K ballpark. My guesstimate is based on a similar cam Panasonic unveiled at NAB - a similarly-configured camera using a 4/3 sensor and capable of mounting various Lumix lenses, which Panasonic reps say should sell for around $21K.
Looks like Sony and Panasonic are directly going after RED's market. In any case, either camera is too rich for this poor boy's blood.![]()
How can all the RED 'beaters' position in at $15K to $22K price tags during a recession? At some point a downwards pressure on prices is inevitable. Solid state electronics cost nothing to make. It's pure profit, so if they want to make big bucks, they'll have to go higher volume and a lower prices. Them's the rules of the road! Look at the price history of HD over the past 5 years!
The price you quoted is for Panasonic 3D camera, not the AF100 that they unveiled. The price that the Panasonic reps been quoting is $6,000 but like in many cases, the actual selling price are usually a bit lower so I wouldn't be surprised to see a $4,000 price tag for that thing.

I rather think they go after the vDSLR crowd.
"It is dark the other side. Very dark!" - "Oh, shut up and eat your toast!"
For the most part, the biggest factor in determining which is right for a prospective buyer is the amount of video one wants to store. If it’s more than a few hours, external storage may be a huge advantage, and this should seal the deal. One can go to a higher price range but this baby i think is worth every penny.![]()
