Can I use a different battery brand with my HV40?

I've found some batteries that claim to work with the HV40 cameras, but they are not Canon brand.
Is there any reason I should not buy these batteries for my Hv40?

Claim and prove oftentimes is a big difference.

Check lacolorshop for batteries. Taky not only claims, but proves.

I have a "2-power" brand 2L24-type on my HV30. No problems (so far), it hasn't exploded yet...

Agreed. Just bought two from him, no problems yet. Great price, and insanely fast shipping. Definitely recommended

Thanks for the tip. I got a battery, charger and 2 boxes of the AY-DVM63AMQ tape for my new HV40.
